He helped write the software behind zip2. Like I said though there is community notes which helps remove bias and disinformation. I guess the problem with today's society it's so damn instant there is always going to be a lag on that. Once someone has posted something millions/billions instantly see it. I'm sure a lot of people believe things before fact checking it, which isn't good.

He's openly selling blue ticks for under £10 a month to bump your replies up the list. It's not like he's hiding the changes he's made. Community notes are just asking the public to do your moderation for free.
As for zip2, that was when people still used fax machines.

The source code isn't going to give any indication on the thinking behind some of the odd decisions, like unbanning Stephen Yaxley Lennon, or how and why the moderation philosophy has changed since the takeover.
I suspect that twitter will slowly go the way of beebo and myspace.

The sooner you face the uncomfortable truth that he's lost the plot in his Trump fandom, the easier it will be for you to see what he actually is (or has become). I'm not sure if his purchase of Twitter at a super-inflated price was a symptom or a cause of his decline into batshittery.

To be fair though you were all banging on about how great Biden was. The truth sunk in a bit when he confused Zelensky with Putin. I seem to remember saying Biden would stand down and Trump would now have legitimate competition, whilst the majority of you were all wallowing in certain Trumpist doomism.

Anyway, that's not what this thread is about. I'm afraid that your man's lost the plot (even if he did have it before). You might as well start your grieving. A greater man than Musk would have had the humility to question himself honestly and to embrace doubt, not least about himself.

I still don't know if your Musk fandom is a genuine thing or a humorous invention (it's been well done if it's the latter), but I would never put my faith in someone who doesn't doubt themself.
If your fandom is/was a genuine thing, then I'm sorry for you.
If I had to pick a hero, for all his faults (let's say some of his attitudes were 'of his time'), I'd pick Richard Feynman: he must have known he was very clever, but for all his genius, he'd first-up admit all the problems with his hunches/theories, then go on to explain why, despite all the problems, his hunch was worth paying attention to. He had the intellect and strength of character to welcome challenge, and recognised that only by embracing doubt could he/we learn. Embracing doubt requires a humility which Musk entirely lacks.
PS Feynman was quite good on bongo drums, but didn't play the piano, as far as I'm aware. Or the trumpet.
