Musky

I think he lost the plot some while ago, but has given up any pretence of balance.

No, don't want to.

Good, you're learning

Look, I think he should stick to his business, concentrate on them. The thing is it's like telling the Moon to be more like the Sun. He is who is.
My personal belief is there are a lot of good people in the World of all colours, races, religion who just want to make the best of it. Dividing people isn't helpful. Anything which divides people is a blight on Humanity to my mind.
I can see different strains of AI/Intelligent matter going down this route as well in the battle for survival/supremacy. I don't think it's going to be Utopic.
Huhhh, it's all too complex for my little mind I like to have a laugh and I like to keep things simple.

This would be worth watching, but Musky won't - he's a coward.

He's probably arrogant enough to think that it would be his Jordan Peterson moment.

Whatever Musk's personal tweets - I only started following him yesterday to see what the fuss is - I think I'd rather have a lack of censorship and the response can be criticism as is being engaged in here or people can join BlueSky or whatever competitors there are.
I really don't want more state censorship of political opinion and there are some worrying noises coming out of this government.

Agree to an extent, though on the other hand he does now appear to be a malign actor with a massive personal platform that is helping to destabilise/incite by disseminating troll factory talking points.

This is the issue, he has too much power due to owning X and doesn't seem keen on using it for good. I'm also wary of who may be pulling his strings.

Ive seen a number of people - football accounts with a fair number of followers for example - say they are migrating to blue sky . I'd have thought that would quieten Musk if it gains momentum.

not read it, but i think he's becoming increasingly deranged
having bought twitter he seems to have managed to radicalise himself
though given the degree of narcissism and nastiness he exhibits, it was probably quite a short journey down the rabbit hole for him

The argument the large platforms always use is that they are just platforms and the individual users are the publishers. If he's tweaking the algorithm to his political preferences that makes him an editor and so he should be subject to the same controls as other media proprietors. I know he wants free speech to be absolute, but it never has been.

He only wants free speech to be absolute when he agrees with it, as with most of these lunatics.

Currently you can racially abuse people unencumbered so soon anyone rational won’t be on it, because anyone with a large following just gets abuse that they can’t successfully report.

Musk has made X/Twitters algorithm Open Source akin to Tesla's Automous driving software. When you've gone through the code if you could let us know?

Are you still on X/Twitter?
0 -
Of course, but I am chronically online and way beyond rational internet usage. Plus, no one is interested in my views so I don’t get any abuse

As am I, but in a similar way to how I read the Telegraph. At least the Telegraph is notionally bound by a press code of conduct. However, Twitter still has an outsized effect on the news cycle, yet is not bound by any sort of code of conduct, which rabbithole Musk is exploiting: even if there are notional 'competitors', Musk is using his current purchased kingdom for anti-democratic ends. I've no idea what the answer is, given the ease with which ill-intentioned people can persuade turkeys to vote for Christmas.

Gawd, I suppose I've got to read all that now I know you can play the piano.
Come on though it's not as though large media companies haven't got agenda's. Also, don't forget X/Twitter has got "Community Notes" so bias/incorrect information can be objected against. Not to mention very quickly. How long does it take to sue a paper and get redress?
Musk has his followers, but I'd say there are more people who are against him now because of his unfiltered approach to life. I mean he seems hell bent on making his life an evolution of complexity. I'd say that's 99.99% of people worst nightmare.
Fascinating really.
Oi, Brian/Rick stop using the devil's conduit!

He claims not to be running a media company. Media companies are subject to regulation.

Just an inkling... he's as trustable as Trump and Farage. I'd also guess he's a narcissist like Trump, so everything he says will be to make himself look like the genius. I'd forgotten how he looked at the launch of Paypal, in 2000...
