Yet to hear a bad word said about the MX-5 from owners.Wheelspinner said:Really can't decide what to buy. Don't think I've ever seen an old Fiat rally car for sale here. A while back I did see a bloke driving an orange X1-9 that he'd refurbished. Had a chat... told him the car had belonged to the mother of a mate of mine at uni. We'd caned that car so hard round Tassie... and one of the silliest fun days was taking it to the police driver training course with a skid pan. Thing spun like a top at the slightest twitch... made us laugh till we threw up from the dizziness.
I think I either want a nice quick little coupe of some sort, or perhaps a luxo-barge to fiddle about with.
Plenty of remarks from non-owners mind you...The above may be fact, or fiction, I may be serious, I may be jesting.

MX5s are great fun, early ones are just a little underpowered as standard. We sell a supercharger kit which spices things up a little. Made up a lap on a Ferrari 355 at Castle Combe in one some years back.
Afternoon folks,
Back in the orifice after what turned out to be a 4 day weekend, could do with a bit more kip of course. Pleasant wobble in, a tad on the fresh side, I did go with knee warmers and a long sleeved top because I'm a bit of a jessie.0 -
I do like the NC series of those, *but* we already have a small convertible (BMW Z3 with the small 6 cylinder) which is fun.pblakeney said:

Thinking an Audi TT (early series), Peugeot RC-Z, maybe one of the Mini variants, or even a BM 3 series I can hot rod a bit.
Much older than that and parts get hard to find out here.

If you've got a power meter or smart turbo then yeah it just works off the watts and what you reckon say weight is. Enter 25 kg or something for a boost up the hills and hope nobody notices.MattFalle said:
Don't know tbh😐pblakeney said:Doesn't Zwift just use Watts? 🤔
TDV set it all up because anything more than a crayon is beyond me.
I've managed to find the bit where I change weight setting but thats it.
Am probably imagining it all tbh.
I don't ever remember having to put in a gear ratio, even for a dumb trainer with a speed/cadence sensor.0 -
I very nearly bought one back when we lived in Sydney, a 7 series BM long wheelbase - ideal things for long distance cruise, and we did a lot of that, but had no space to keep something that size. Here I have loads of room but roads not so suited for that.pblakeney said:If you've already got the fun car sorted then I'd go down the luxo-barge option.

I'm sold on the Cooper. If you were so inclined and had a private road or a track, I reckon you could have a lot of fun with it. That's just the bog standard 3 cylinder 1.5 turbo - 136 bhp. The Cooper S is a 4 cylinder 2.0l and is good for another 50 bhp. Then there's a tuned thing - JCW or something.Wheelspinner said:

It's well put together, and I love the driving position. I take it out in preference to the Volvo tank. I think you gave some positive advice when I initially asked about the car, so you probably know all this.

Cars, cars, cars...🧐
Back in the actual world, I'm well donald ducked. 8am here some noise outside, is that the roofer joiner tradesman here already. Yes it was. Good progress on replacing the totally neglected and jeffed fibreglass garage roof with steel panels, one new half in place, other old 1/2 ready for ripping and tipping tomorrow. But my legs and knees have been moaning all day, after effects of that rocky road yesterday perhaps.0 -

Anyhow, took a quick trip down to A&E once the pain got a bit much, just in case. Not particularly useful, now home with some slightly stronger mesds which seem to be working. Getting onto BUPA tomorrow."I spent most of my money on birds, booze and fast cars: the rest of it I just squandered." [George Best]1

That cat - cow thang. I had a (v good lady) chiro give me a serial work over. For whatever reason my spine is out of shape L to R and back to front, just the way it has become. She rec'd various exercises to work on and hopefully strengthen back muscles, tendons etc. No leg action tight in then arms out press, butterfly stretch, others and the arch and dip. I use those as part of reg gym sesh warm up and cool down; they've worked and lessened occurrences of that electric shock back pain. And if I don't do them for a while I do get the flash pain reminders.
Hope you get fixed S666.0 -
BUPA physio may be able to get me sorted with a scan referral: if not will go for teleconsult with my GP to get it (or if GP is awol, we can collar a corporate GP). There's a good private place in town where they can do that mri stuff - they took a very good pic of my prostate back in Jan...MattFalle said:atleast thats some progress - atvleastbbetter meds.
