    Why are QS riding?

To keep it under control for Jakobsen I assume?
If Jakobsen is in with a serious shout of winning this stage, I've totally misread the profile. Always a possibility.
Seems it was more to make everyone's life a misery for the rest of the day and generally cause chaos.

All calm again, I wonder if that was a bit of a test run for later in the day.

Second peloton group back on, the ten or so still left behind just about making it back.

Van Aert's not 100% is he? Didn't fully sprint at the intermediate, keeps going back to the car - what do we think?

Bored of the chat in the bunch. 😉
    Was my PTP hope.

"Pale and pallor" doesn't sound good.
The above may be fact, or fiction, I may be serious, I may be jesting.
I am not sure. You have no chance.

Random question which I've never thought about before

When they say "there's 1700m of climbing on today's stage", how is this calculated?

Is it every metre of vertical gain, or does it have to be over a certain percentage (say 0.5%) to qualify as "climbing"?
  • Cort beginning to think 3 days in a row ambitious. I'm sure he's blowing when Perez starts putting it down

    Dull Stage eh?

I would suspect it is more accurately described as "height gain" and that "climbing" is a commentator's poetic shorthand...

one more point and Magnus will be wearing the polka dots to the top of Planche des Belles Filles, so I expect Perez will Magnus tow him to the next hill top.
As David Millar pointed out yesterday the moustache plus the EF kit plus the polka dot jersey is a winning combination, in a bit of a daft way. It'll be a shame when he gives up the jersey.

If anyone is feeling generous, can one of you say when it's worth turning it on?

Gotta to do it in the office so it's gotta be worth it.

I assume it will be everything so if it was a 160km stage with half going up at 1% and half going down at 1% you'd have 800m. However, by that measure 1700m on today's 'lumpy' stage feels a bit low.

Why can't they crack on and create abundant cheap electricity? That would stop a lot of World silliness. Also, I bet Cav (national champ) could beat that particle to the finish.
