Anyone know who is in the Porte group?0

I thought it was amazing given where it was and we got nothing.kingstongraham said:This not even getting a mention....
Big mistake was the sprinter teams riding the climb far too easily.
If they intended to do that they should have held them at 2 minutes and risk riders bridging

Anyone else losing interest in the GC?0

Has it started yet?bm5 said:Anyone else losing interest in the GC?
My worry when it's this kind of GC field has always been that none of them know how to win, so they just ride up mountains holding hands. Like they did on Blockhaus and the always boring Etna"Unfortunately these days a lot of people don’t understand the real quality of a bike" Ernesto Colnago0 -
Yep Carapaz doesn’t know how to win the Giro - it’s a good point

Back loaded races are always going to have a back loaded GC.
Forget about GC till the 3rd week and just enjoy the daily racing. The above may be fact, or fiction, I may be serious, I may be jesting.
I am not sure. You have no chance.Veronese68 wrote:PB is the most sensible person on here.0 -
I understand the week 3 backloading. Problem for me is my lack of interest in those left contesting the GC.0

Ah. I’ve not got any particular favourite rider or team so simply watch as a neutral. I do admire those who attack though. Those riders will become evident next week. The above may be fact, or fiction, I may be serious, I may be jesting.

It’s typical of the Giro to have a series of non GC stages in the second week. Things are always kept on simmer until this weekend and then it’s pretty much all potential GC stages, until the end.
Three of these four bland stages have contained some cracking racing.
So I reckon we’ve done well.
Okay, so there hasn’t been much GC action, yet, but at least the GC remains tight.
Not sure that having someone like Pogacar already making one big attack and gaining 3 or 4 minutes would benefit the remaining stages.
Disappointing to see folks here sharing the same views as those over on the CN forum, where it’s to be expected.

All depends on who is posting. I've enjoyed watching the race stages so far.0
-
For me some of the stages that have looked unpromising have delivered surprisingly good racing. I've come to not expect too much from the 'GC stages' as they rarely deliver. That said I'm surprised today isn't a mountain stage.0

Despite the loss of Bardet, I've thoroughly enjoyed it so far. I think GC is nicely poised at the moment. Although Carapaz is a strong favourite, he's going to want a buffer before the final day TT so should be forced to attack. Additionally, both Bora and Bahrain have two guys in touch, so hopefully should be able to use that to apply some pressure. Looking forward to the rest of the race.0

The only gc stage so far has eliminated some contenders. I don't know what more this race could have delivered so far.
There's still multiple riders who are still in contention for gc, and the pre-race favourite is still the favourite.
