Hadn't realised how young he was, so central was his voice to British (and presumably Anglophone?) coverage of cycling, and it's a voice that will be much missed.
"If I was a 38 year old man, I definitely wouldn't be riding a bright yellow bike with Hello Kitty disc wheels, put it that way. What we're witnessing here is the world's most high profile mid-life crisis" Afx237vi Mon Jul 20, 2009 2:43 pm
His voice was so iconic.. a relaxed mature take on things ... Centered

I think the outpouring of shock, sadness and love on social media today showed how much Richard Moore was appreciated in the English-speaking cycling world. His writing, especially "In Search of Robert Millar" and "Slaying the Badger", was exemplary and his podcasting brought cycling to a whole new audience.
I think it's testament to his gifts that this feels like the loss of a friend, someone whose voice I've listed to for countless hours, and the ambience that he, Lionel Birnie and Daniel Friebe created, made you think of them as friends whose conversations you were part of. I can't comprehend The Cycling Podcast without him. What a tremendous loss. I'm unable to find the words to express how much I feel for his family, especially his wife and young son. My heart goes out to them.
Bloody hell. Anyone who hasn't read that, stop what you're doing here and read it. Especially if you remember Kate popping up on the podcast during the Tour, because it really puts context to the conversations about her first impressions of the Tour and also Richard's journalistic instincts to take a chance meeting and turn it into a story in itself, and his instinct as a person to not do that exploitatively but with kindness and support and enthusiasm, because not for one minute did they reveal or imply quite how green she was.

Relaxed, fun, stuck to his opinions.
Total sh!tter.
Was listening to them the other night.
He was a good bloke who clearly loved cycling just as we all do
RIP
Weird thing, having listened to so many hours podcasting this news brings a different level of sense of loss.
RIP Richard.
Big lesson, reinforcing the conclusion reached during lock down- always buy the ticket, opportunity may not come round again.
What a thing that would be

Such a terrible loss, and such sad news
I didn’t know him personally but somehow feels like I’ve lost a friend
