Definitely all a bitshit. Mother GTi has had about a week out of hospital since Xmas day, friend with stage 4 bowel cancer has had to go back on chemo because his PET scan indicated that he couldn’t have surgery on his liver tumour, I’m getting flashbacks to the 80s when I was constantly scared about nuclear war (I’d found my dad’s emergency planning documents - he’d have been in a local bunker), the y13 students in school are being totallyshit at giving me their work, and I haven’t the time to exercise so the fact that my lower back and hips have beenfucked since Covid isn’t getting a lot better. Not sure I’m coping too well…

Loads of rozzers on the beat in town at lunchtime but not sure why. Maybe Putin has threatened to breach the city defences but hasn't updated his maps since the 70s and realised the city council already did that with the ring road.

Overheard one if them telling an old guy if people need any help to give them a shout.
Half an hour later and they weren't there any more, so really helpful.

Probably just another anti cycling operation, although I can see why with the number of just eat/deliveroos on illegal ebikes riding like idiots in the pedestrianised bits.

Sometimes these things are like buses and they all happen together which is just extra shyte. Not sure what to advice other than concentrate on the stuff you can change.

When you can exercise I might even be recovered enough to get out on a bike with you. We should be as slow as each other

    Evening folks,
Teensiest bit moist out there today, managed to wobble to the orifice and back without getting completely soaked at least. Wimped out and took the car yesterday. Work is still being a clusterfuck of the highest order, beginning to wish I'd been laid off before Christmas now. Completely understand how Mr GTi is feeling, I need to learn to let things wash over me more and not get annoyed by them. I need to channel Seano.
Talking of which, show this to your better half

Did plenty of tossing last night, good technique honed over years of practice saved my feeble wrists from injury.

GTi - listen to a podcast about long runs and it had a phrase which works for any situation - life’s great ‘this too will pass’ life’s shoot ‘this too will pass’

Tried saying out loud during a race whilst running flat out down snowdon and being sick - I failed

I need to do more of this, but also to stop worrying about the little things. When I think rationally I've got a great life, I am a lucky man by almost any measure, but try telling my head that at 4am.

Retire. It’s the only way. 😌

The drive into our place goes through a wall of pine trees on the only boundary we have with neighbours. There’s about 20 of them, averaging 40 metres tall, and they are a literal and metaphorical divider between us and the rest of the world. If its not on our side of those trees, I really truly DGAF. Zero.

It's hard to not GAF because when you see the Russians and Ukrainians in interviews and pictures, they are like us - European.
They showed a 7 year old girl that they were trying to resuscitate her after a bombing and she didn't make it. That could be my daughter. There was a woman lying in a hospital entrance, 1 leg blown off, bleeding all over the ground - she was conscious and looking at the camera. She didn't make it either.

I cannot switch off the empathy button nor the feeling of helplessness. That's being human. The only thing I can do is look after my own.

Like VN, the rational side of me is a straight up, happy guy but the images in Ukraine are real and this is happening to real people - on our doorstep, orchestrated by a thug, a megalomaniac, a greedy man surrounded by complicit billionaires. It's all about money and power - ego and wealth. It's fcuking obscene.

I thought you were living in a swamp, not under a rock?
Just not watching the main news. It's just too grim.
I need to do more of this, but also to stop worrying about the little things. When I think rationally I've got a great life, I am a lucky man by almost any measure, but try telling my head that at 4am.
I blame the EPO, she's a worrier and I think it's rubbed off on me.
I like TLW's post above, this too will pass. How does a chap make his subconscious get some phucking perspective?
Just learn to laugh about how shyte thing are?
Especially the stuff you can't do anything about.
    this.

    its my coping mechanism.

The camera down the willy isn't anything like as bad as it sounds.

Cheers chaps, agree with all of the above. Just need to put some NGAF into practice, or at least try to. Why worry about something you can't change? Venting on here does help as well.
