First time I've watched on of Hambini's infamous slating vids, shocking what he displays as regards awful welds and a very twisted frame, but his style is a bit too much for me.MidlandsGrimpeur2 said:I am guessing the Hambini video may have something to do with the new company not wishing to use the previous suppliers.

You’ve had an absolute mare on this thread. Scattergun posting on stuff you know nothing about has bitten you hard on the arse. Own it.MattFalle said:
well, considering clubbies have been more than happy to slag off boardmans at every opportunity when they're mega and couldn't spot all the faults on these it does raise questions, no?carbonclem said:Amazing turn about to find it was all the fault of cycling clubs.

If I had my way, quoting Hambini or linking any of his vids would get you a one month ban from this forum. He’s a clown.0

Soloists - frame fails, Cervelo recalls left right nd centre .
Early CAADs - frame fails, 'Dale frame recalls left right and centre.
Clubs bought what everyone thought were cool good bikes for a good price
Cool bike that got mega reviews turns out to be a bitshit.
Bloke buys name of failed bike compny
that's all really. nothing more nothingless.
no scattergun and everything factual. whats there not to know about?

So stating “… utterly stunning and a very, very good frameset at a mega price” on reflection is factual ? A metal frame built in a Far-Eastern factory without much QC seemingly easily gains the label of “stunning”. Your perspective is mightily warped then. Even though it was them daft clubbies that made them popular the MFs still bought and lusted after them!MattFalle said:

opinions can change - we nowknow that they look lovely but are a bitshit.
thats all really. just a shame, tbh.
for all we know the QC with every frame manufacturer could be hit and miss. who knows - i'm not going to chop my Prince/S3/CAAD up to check.
and, errr,no. MFs didn't buy them. They still think they look incredibly cool in the black and green as above though.
you seem to have major problems with a)metal frames and b) place of manufacture, tbh.....The camera down the willy isn't anything like as bad as it sounds.

The thing for me here is that the original Palace and the second version were great frames but every iteration seemed to suffer from more and more quality issues. I have had 3 frames in total. The first was the second iteration in green and other than some agricultural looking welds it was absolutely fine with no issues until it hit the side of a van so that was the end of that. It was a great frame that felt lively and rode really well and I loved it.
I replaced this after the insurance paid out with a black/celeste version which was in the sale when they were replacing with the 3C. It was a great looking frame but on it's first outing it just felt sluggish and horrible from the back end. I soon realised that the rear triangle was out of square. This was a fairly common issue on the second version of the frame from the early production runs. It turned out that this is what this frame was as the date of manufacture tag was quite clearly an early date for the frame.
Luckily Bowman replaced this frame under warranty. They didn't ask for the frame to be returned either which, for me, was fairly telling of them knowing that there was an issue with it. The replacement was a 3C version in yellow.
Another great looking frame but it really was woeful from a quality point of view. The welds were once again agricultural but the issues were greater than that. Paint drips in the finish, bottle mounts miles out of square, BB shell width 2mm out of spec and the seat tube taper meant that you had to fettle and shim the front mech clamp. Bowman offered a small refund against the issues and sent out some washers to shim the BB cups but it was clear they just weren't interested.
I used this frame for a few thousand miles but after my mate's frame (Bowman Palace 2) cracked and then snapped across the chainstay and I saw the Hambini video of the v3 I just sold it. It doesn't really matter what Hambini is actually saying in this video the state of the welds and complete lack of QC says it all.
I can't help but think that it is a very odd purchase but good luck to the guy that has bought the 'brand'.
