Surely not beyond the wit of a DS to have a phone running GCN/ES.

Who was commentating? Could explain a lot.

Doesn't matter. The times are on the graphics.
I quite often watch with the sound off.
The above may be fact, or fiction, I may be serious, I may be jesting.
I am not sure. You have no chance.

They got cut off at the bottom of the screen on GCN for me (when on fullscreen).

GCN doesn't seem to be doing well with the Olympics. Glad I stayed with ES.

Pretty sure they take exactly the same feed and commentary. Difference might be performance of the app.

Is the ES app better? The GCN one is still really poor.

My subscription is up soon and I'm not tempted to pay full whack for it again at the moment

ES is down 25% to £30 at the mo. Seems to work on laptop and android for me. Casting from phone to chromecast also fine.

And the coverage is basically the same right? But without all the extra GCN crap

Can't help you there. I've not noticed a live bike race that's missing when it's being covered, and available on catch up, so I think they've got all the same races as gcn, and now you get literally dozens of live feeds from the Olympics.

For example there is a couple of hours of each stage of the tour de l'ain live starting tomorrow that I'm certain won't be on the eurosporttv channels but is on the player.

I'd agree but Rich was reporting the timing graphics getting cut off on GCN while I didn't have that on ES. Plus lots of complaints about the commentary. I didn't hear a single Australian bit of commentary.
    Maybe I'm just lucky. 😉

Only thing that annoys me about ES subscription is that on the PS4 app for some reason you can't rewind the live coverage. Wouldn't go with GCN because I appreciate some of the other sport on ES, so can't compare directly.

I’ll take extra GCN censored over ES advert breaks.

But I don’t want to spend £40 for my pending GCN renewal. Will wait for a promotion.

Just to point out that the ES advert breaks are only during the Olympics.

Advert breaks? Only if you choose the channel option isn't it? The live feeds are ad free, I'm pretty sure.

    That's correct, there's nearly always a stream labelled "Ad-Free"

Nearly always, but not live during the Olympics.

They aren't called "ad free", but unless they have the E1 or E2 against them showing they are what is being shown on the telly, they don't have adverts.

Got the women's 7s on at the mo, will verify in 10 minutes time that there are no adverts at half time.

    Can confirm. Good match, too.

It had NZ commentary, I think, and you could tell when they went for ad breaks wherever is broadcasting it live, because the commentary stopped, but the feed continued.

Good to know. Will pay more attention in future.

Not a lot of success outside of Austria since the Olympics although she's raced a lot in 2023.

Lizzy Banks had some "interesting" words about Kiesenhofer in the Cycling Podcast Giro Donne round up.

Is this a bit of nudge, nudge, wink, wink or am I misreading the comments? She was a bit of a surprise winner at the Olympics, calling it a fluke would be unfair but it was mainly due to a balls up by the favourites.

No, she explicitly called out Kiesenhofer for using the team car to get back to the lead group in the Giro Donne!
