Whilst a GB gold would have been nice, I'm really pleased to see Mørkøv get Olympic gold after a career of dropping other people off at the line
It's only a bit of sport, Mun. Relax and enjoy the racing.

That was a bloody brilliant Madison. So pleased for Mørkøv. A man that's dedicated his career to delivering glory for others gets his own moment.

Jack Carlin has been taking lessons from the Danish TPers..."There’s points I was just closing my eyes and hoping for the best but we go again" >:)

    Delighted for Mørkøv though :)

I know little about boxing, but the GB boxer in the 52kg category has been excellent entertainment in both his semi and final - takes gold

How can a grown man only be 52kg?

Was a great display of measured control from Danes, but I didn't feel the gold was in too much doubt from about 70 out when the french lap stalled. Rest of podium was more of a contest.

    Agree about Mørkøv.

A question for you climbing fans. How would Alex Honnald do? The one climber non-fans have heard of. I image he's not fit for purpose for the sprint, but the boulder and especially the lead seem to be in his wheel house. Or is this like asking if Mark Beaumont could win the Tour de France?

I tried a google and found out that he's a commentator for US TV for it.

Honnald isn’t a good enough boulderer or sport climber. I don’t think he’s climbed an 8b Boulder problem or 9A sports route outside like most of men in the final.

Ummmm, I'm 6ft and 12.5 stone, but WTF has weight got to do with whether you're a grown man or not? Height, build, BMI...

Age does that. Then you start to shrink in height and weight again I guess.

BBC currently showing horses jumping on both Olympic channels. They really have been a bit of a shambles.

All of the producers who got into the BBC by nepotism really need to understand that most of us don't watch show jumping.

I'm watching the modern pentathlon. Watching athletes run around some cones set out in a field reminds me of school sports day. Do they use an olympic standard spoon for the egg and spoon race?

I would be interested to hear the view of an expert on how much skill there is in this and whether a better rider would have fared better. To me, she doesn't look like a very good rider, but I don't know much.

    As you wish

"Largely rider error" , so a better rider may not have had the same problems.

Pretty sure hitting a horse before an event isn't normally considered an effective way to calm it down.

Seems to be the German way. Was it the Judo girl?
The above may be fact, or fiction, I may be serious, I may be jesting.
I am not sure. You have no chance.

I dug and failed. Good skills.

What about Constantin? That horse cost Ireland a medal.

    For the USA obviously.

    She was born there.

Silver in the team competition apparently

Well, as you grow up you generally get bigger and as you get bigger you get heavier but I assume you knew that? 52kg is just over 8 stone, that's very small for an adult male. It's possibly lighter than my very slim (UK size 6) daughter. FWIW on a BMI chart you would be considered underweight as a man at that weight if taller than 5' 5" UK, the average is 5' 9" (worryingly the average weight is over 13 stone which I think of as the top end of 'normal' for me at 6'2").

If I weighed 52 kilos... and somehow could keep my power... I could be a pro.

As I always like to say I am the same height and weight as Cav. Just a few watts between us though :#
