Van Aert on this descent could be x rated if he has any chance of yellow

He is by far the strongest and he's taking his chances today... someone else would have hang about and sprint for a time bonus at the finish...

That's the way to race... why he is so much stronger than anybody else is a different matter, but he's fun to watch

Reminds me of Armstrong and Javier Otxoa on Hautucam.

    Very similar...........................weather.
That was more dramatic. Etched into my brain, that one.

That's a 10% climb he's doing on the big ring.

In the big ring on a 10% climb?

    Wee wee off.

It's quite clear he's going to ride past the leaders and take the stage.
Unrelenting and still in the big ring on 13%

    Prob a 30 or 32. Usually a 30 these days but 32 gives a bit more spin

He's on the biggest cog at the back. Not recommended, presumably a lower gear than some on the small chain ring.

He seems to have an extra 200 watts over everyone else.

He's been in the big ring for the majority of the attack. 10-14% gradients.... Absolute joke.

Carapaz is cracking eh? Relatively speaking...

Not that we can see it

    This has aged spectacularly badly

Pogacar's tendency to fixate on one rival might cause him problems.

D'ye reckon the commissars will be scanning Pog's bike for the hidden motor? Or was that so last year, or the year before...?

    This bloke is pretty special.

Dan Lloyd sounds a bit deflated. He then mentioned that he'll be the first person to win a TT and mountain stage in week 1 since Armstrong.

The finish is uphill a bit isn't it?

Last 800m is slightly uphill, from the final tight left hander.

    This is bonkers from Pogacar.
When did we last see something like this?

The peloton need to carry lassos for when Pogacar passes them.
