Are you looking brand new?MattFalle said:
Agree - theyare really nice but within budget?Pross said:Mini Cooper but go for the 5 door option. Not sure how much the electric version is at the moment but as electric cars go it is one of the cooler ones IMHO.
will have to checkif I get work discount.
grazie!
Another option, and what I was going to go for when I last had a company car, might be an A Class.0 -
if it falls into budget, tgen yup.Pross said:

various reasons:
no intentions of ever getting rid - run it into the ground
if Aygo/Clio sized I can give to bambina in 2 1/2 years as her first car and not worry about it too much
work discounts on new
with discount we're not worried, tbh, about saving a couple of grand on 2nd hand and the associayed fagging around or just walking into a dealer, putting the credit card on the table and walking off with it.
massive amount of Amazon points off 'card, pay off in full next day..The camera down the willy isn't anything like as bad as it sounds.

This... they also come with battery these days. There is a guy in town who owns one and rides his kids to school... he's the coolest dude in town, obviously!oxoman said:How about the Vauxhall Adam or Renault Zoe. Personally just get a big cargo bike.

How about something left field like a Smart forFour electric. You can get a new one on Carwow for around £16K.
A very good town car as long as you aren't expecting to do long runs and fun to drive.
Carwow also have a Nissan Leaf electric new for just over £21K....which is a very, very good price for a well liked car (actually, I am surprised by how cheap that is!)0 -
grazie! TDV looked at the Smart then dismissed for it for some reason that I honestly can't remember.essexian said:How about something left field like a Smart forFour electric. You can get a new one on Carwow for around £16K.

5000 miles/annum at 80* mpg = @ £370.MattFalle said:Utter total love but does it hit mpg requirements?
Totally wonderful.
5000 miles/annum at 30 mpg = @ £985.
Driving a sh!t car to save £12/week max? Don't be tight.
*And that's only if the claimed MPG are anywhere near realistic. Don't be tight.
The above may be fact, or fiction, I may be serious, I may be jesting.
I am not sure. You have no chance.Veronese68 wrote:PB is the most sensible person on here.2 -
A friend has an older Leaf and really likes it.
If you are considering an Up check the gear change is smooth they can be a bit notchy especially when cold for some reason - might have ironed out that problem in new ones. .
I would go for something slightly bigger just for practicality - Polo, Clio size - though if you have a bigger car available a 4 door (didn't realise they made them til just now) could be fine.[Castle Donington Ladies FC - going up in '22]0 -
Looking at Toyota Yaris hybrid that is mega.
I neeeeeeed it..The camera down the willy isn't anything like as bad as it sounds.

About this thread. No offence MF but how is your maths? If you need to spend 15k on the new mowta, what mpg would you need over the time you own it to save that in fuel? (Or other running costs)
You aren't going to convince me that a few extra miles on the M4 is going to make any difference second hand. 99% of the depreciation is the assumption that someone has thrashed the shit out of it, and that BMW will have designed a way for the engine to explode if you drive it for 30 minutes longer than the timing chain is supposed to last.1 -
Neither are the MFs.TheBigBean said:

Hard to explain the M4 away. 😉The above may be fact, or fiction, I may be serious, I may be jesting.

ah no, mate - i understand compketely where you're coming from.First.Aspect said:About this thread. No offence MF but how is your maths? If you need to spend 15k on the new mowta, what mpg would you need over the time you own it to save that in fuel? (Or other running costs)
You aren't going to convince me that a few extra miles on the M4 is going to make any difference second hand. 99% of the depreciation is the assumption that someone has thrashed the censored out of it, and that BMW will have designed a way for the engine to explode if you drive it for 30 minutes longer than the timing chain is supposed to last.
i just lobbed another 80 litres of fuel in Anaconda today before it POWERED out of Edwyn's Fuel and Electrical Emporium. This 'll last me 3 weeks ish before having to lob in another
If I can triple my mileage per gallon that's a winner.
i think its more psychological than anything else re fuel but tbh, the Anaconda also smells a bit inside.
Would also mean that there is less chance of me getting massively busted for, as TDV would describe it, driving like atwat.
But yes, agree completely re your initial cost points..The camera down the willy isn't anything like as bad as it sounds.

That Honda E looks like Wall-e0

Oh I understand. An M4 is too much like a child drew it for me, but I have the thinking man's M4 and I now drive like a teenager again. (No, not a Saab, a 440 GC, 4 doors, cavernous boot, good for bike, single scull and kayak transport as well as 6 points for inattentive accelerator use).MattFalle said:

What about a Golf GTE?
Bit of an issue with being an early adopter perhaps...
Top Gear not wholly dismissive, although not overly enamoured either -https://www.topgear.com/car-reviews/volkswagen/golf-gteWe're in danger of confusing passion with incompetence
