It's nat Champs week. Not sure exactly what the calendar looks like or if road races are also being run, but the testers are certainly busy from Wednesday on

Spanish & French races on GCN. If I remember correctly the British ones have been delayed until October

Ben Swift & Alice Barnes getting a lot of use out of their nationals jerseys then!

Yeah Nationals are in Lincoln in October, guess if they run them now the home based riders would have had next to no racing before hand

Disappointed WvA didn't contest the Belgian TT champs. Yves Lampaert wins, Evenepoel second.

Twin brothers Mick and Tim van Dijke go 1-2 (5 seconds apart) in the Dutch U23 TT.

W.r.t elite women, Anna van der Breggen maintains the running joke that a world champion's jersey is really a Dutch champion's jersey in disguise.

[And as I wrote this, it appears that Tom Dumoulin put himself back in the stripes as well.]

Whilst not surprising that Anna van der Breggen won, it was a bit of a shock that Annemiek van Vleuten was only 4th.

Aleksandr Vlasov won the Russian TT, Emma Norsgaard the Danish women's TT - and on that note, to see her RR champion's jersey in Movistar's ranks is a novel sight.

As is the fact more than half of their women's squad aren't Spanish.
  • Another rider on the comeback trail is Chloé Dygert, winning the US women's TT for the first time (which is a bit of a surprise).

First race since that crash in the Worlds last year.

Asgreen takes the TT in Denmark, beating Berg.

Pogacar 3rd in Slovenia TT, Tratnik takes the jersey.

Makes the Tour tactics a little more interesting...

What the hell happened in the Italian TT?

Sombrero won, beating affini, someone else and Ganna comfortably.

I'm surprised Ganna even rode. He's part of the Italian team pursuit squad for Tokyo, so his training will be focused on that, rather than a 45 km TT effort.

He's got a nice jersey already, may as well let someone else wear the Italian one

Just goes to show that holding the national champs on the weekend before the Tour is a joke.
At least they turned up to the TT. The road races are a who's who of who's not there.
Maybe in a decade or so, the UCI will cotton on.

Nationals should be either very early season or very late season so the champion wears the jersey for the whole of one season not part of two.

The Danish Road race should be fun today, 22 WT riders turning up for it, QS bring 3 and Trek bring 5. Won't be easy for them to control it though as there are some strong conti teams like ColoQuick and Uno-X (who haven't been shy to get involved this season!) in the mix as well.

I am hoping a few of these road races are going to turn up on Tiz in the next day or so.

Meanwhile, at the Spanish road race, the cream is rising to the top. Bilbao is on a mission being followed by a select group of WT riders.

Omar Fraille rides away from Arambu in last 150m to take the Spannish jersey.
    Spectacular helmet hair too!

Omar Fraille leads out Alex Aranburu for the Spanish title.......
.....but forgets to sit up! :D

A most popular winner I would think.
