    I should be ruined today.
Friday: Mates garden bar for beers.
Saturday: Girls out day drinking/shopping so I picked them up and it all ended at 2am.
    Sunday: Football based BBQ.

However as I'm doing a 70.3 next weekend I decided that alcohol free beer and Lime & Soda water would be a good idea o:)

    Q. Has anyone tried clip on tri bars on a road bike? I'd appreciate some 1st hand experience/death reports.

Busy week ahead getting stuff together plus one final open water swim tomorrow.

I used to use them all the time years ago when I did triathlons. When tri bars first came I got an all in one bar but I couldn’t get on with climbing and descending potions so switched to clip ones. The main issue is your position will be different when on the tri bars, so you need to get used to them. You may find you need to move the saddle to get a position that’s comfy enough to use them.
However you’ve sort of left it a bit late to start trying new stuff.

Diary is suspiciously clear today, must be a coincidence. Managed to flog one bike on fleabay and a mate is coming round to look at another middle of the week. Got a few other bits n bobs which I'll flog some other time. The master plan to clear the garage for a Ti roadie is coming together.

Solicitors now doing their thing with searches etc. Now getting quotes for a survey on the house, seems a bit pricey but can't risk not doing it.

Lousy weather finally cleared up. Walked dog, then went to collect a new pair of speakers for living room.

Another ride on new trainer, fast flat course this time.

@homers_double Clip-ons take some getting used to for sure on the road. Wouldn't risk if you're competing next week. The position is quite different and from my attempts, I seemed to be a lot *less* able to keep up a decent power/cadence on them on the roadie compared to just riding on hoods/drops. Basically too far behind the BB and to reach clip-ons, needed to be too bent over to pedal and breathe.

Much better on a TT frame. New bike? :-)

    Morning all.

@sungod is this a new shiny bike?

Week of WFH, got performance review today. Off up north at the weekend, taking the Gios up and swapping it for the Condor for a few months.

    @homers_double

FWIW and IMHO, they take some getting used to and given you only have a week...

First is elbow position - you want tri bars with the ability to have a good range of elbow position. I found the bike much more stable with wide elbow's in relation to the grips but we're all different.
...and when you put them on there are so many things that you feel you may want to change such as:

    Stem length
    Saddle angle (saddle even)
    Saddle position (forward/aft)
    Saddle height

The bike suddenly feels different with them on.

Best to set the thing up on a turbo or rollers would be better.
Hard to put the power down initially without the bike going out of shape.
I have seen many a time when a rider is on tri bars and looks like they would be better off with bending the elbows more and getting flatter that way.
It's the trade off between being very streamlined on tri bars but keeping the bike stable, in a straight line and being able to put the power down as opposed to being naturally familiar and at one with your bike and the way it handles but not as streamlined.
Dedicated TT bikes are different in terms of wheelbase, your position over the BB, the geometry and so on which cannot be replicated with a set of tri bars.
Get some and practice for the next event perhaps.

Or get a TT bike, now we're talking :)

I think it's just the one he's taken with him in a box to the land of the tabby i.e. Lanzarote, where SG will normally be found several times a year, going up and down volcanoes, drinking coffee and flirting with waitresses (I always imagine that this is at the Manrique designed bar at Timanfaya, though I could be wrong). Followed by basking, lazing, quaffing and scoffing supplies from...

this exactly - used them on the road bike when doing duathlons and train' rides - absolutely no problems at all - comfy, stable.

I looked at expensive ones first out then thought "fuggit", bought some dirt cheap huge semi circular one pieces from decathlon, used them to set the length I wanted then cut them down

'Taped, 'plugged, custom length and bargain price.

Finally got round to testing chain stretch. +1 dropped in easy as pie. So new chain. New sram cassette. Quick index, cleaned the worst of the shyyte off the bike. Tightened my saddle bolts, removed, cleaned and greased pedals, pumped up my tyres. I needs to bleed my front brake. Kit ordered.

Otherwise, mild alcohol dependence, couple of interviews, crosswords.

Show off your wife, show off your peonies, show off your cloudless day on the beach. 😀

Lovely though. I've just had the heads off ours, they're done. Wait till my jasmine is out in the next few days, I'll post the delightful scent, especially on a warm evening.

Ooh, I do have some roses out a treat though.
