Tratnik a definite possibility after his win outsprinting O'Connor after a 9% hill in last year's Giro.

I had De Marchi down as a 5 star favourite for today's stage until I saw he's only 30 odd seconds down on GC.
Glad I stuck a pin in Tratnik, though.

The second most expensive taxi journey I've ever taken was from Parma to Piacenza. Taxi driver missed the exit at Piacenza and we had to do an additional 40 kms up to the next junction and back.

Did the driver have a white stick?
    That's pretty hard to do.
Hmmm, if you've driven in Italy, you would know ANYTHING is possible on the roads!

The photos of the food and wine have me dreaming about Abruzzo food <3

Only about 20km till the unclassified climbing starts. Going to be about as hard a day as it could be for everyone today.

Dammit! I had picked Tratnik last night but forgot this morning.
Can only hope the breakaway is caught for PTP.
The above may be fact, or fiction, I may be serious, I may be jesting.
I am not sure. You have no chance.

Is there a worse job in pro cycling than having to push your team mate while he has a slash? Even worse in a headwind but at least with all the rain you won't know for certain what is splashing you.

I have driven the Piacenza - Palma run on many, many occasions. Never even came close to missing that massive Milano-Torino junction.
    Hence the white stick joke.

I agree about anything can happen, though. I've found that to be especially true along the two Rivieras border towns.

Quick one - are you guys watching this on Eurosport player? I can't find live coverage only yesterday's stage

Astana ramping up the pace and putting riders out the back, a long, long way from home.

You aren't missing many actual pictures of cycling. I'm watching on Virgin TV Go, but it's occasional wet lens on a moto, adverts, but mostly pictures of rain at the finishing line.

Not had any live footage on GCN for like 15 mins now.

Host broadcaster is putting out highlights and on-bike footage instead

I think we will be lucky to get much more live today.
Don't know if they will be able to cobble together a watchable highlights package.
Wet weather technology hasn't progressed at all.

18 points for the last climb though, so feels likely whoever takes that will go into blue. Can't see Gavazzi taking any points on the hard climb.

Bit weird seeing the pink jersey doing the main slug of work to bring a breakaway back.

Christopher Juul in the front three, half Danish, half Irish, in the rain....

Taaramae used to be able to climb a bit, didn't he? Minute and a half advantage for three over the rest of the break feels pretty decisive.

What have the two Wanty riders got hanging off their saddles? Transponder? Interesting that the BikeExchange guy doesn't seem to have have one...

perhaps... Wanty are in Velon, which I didn't realise, so would make sense that they are cameras...
