Pogacar falling on his sword to close this gap, but even if he makes it, he's not going to be much use on the final climb.

    Roglic in beast mode here

It looked like Roglic snuck away on the descent and UAE were sleeping.

McNulty is going to lose a lot of time today. Only question is whether Pog can bridge and Roglic is not hanging around.

    Good racing from roglic.

There was a split early with carthy, carapaz etc al, then Astana and Rog attacked on a descent, got a gap and eventually bridged across. Uae just missed that break, not good.

Roglic has blown everybody out but for Carthy and Gaudu.
Not sure this is the smartest riding.

Anyway, didn't someone say Roglic definitely wouldn't go long?

I've just turned on. Did Pogacar wait for McNulty?

Roglic will never attack a long way out .

He did. Then was on radio and seemingly given permission to go.

Yes, stayed with him till he cracked.

Oh dear. Why did he do that?

Is Roglic panicking once more? Squirting out 100 ml from the bidon (as he did 10 mins ago) isn't going to make a lot of difference, makes me think he's worrying.
Glad to see Gaudu going well.
The chasers were getting closer till the Bilbao group joined them, but now he's slowing them down.

UAE (and Movistar) made a pig's ear of that earlier break. And Roglic owes Astana a pint.

Astana blew things up, but fair play to Roglic for making things stick (thus far)

Why is Gaudu towing Roglic to the line?

Why is Gaudu towing Roglic to the line?

Deal made. Gaudu has the stage.
The above may be fact, or fiction, I may be serious, I may be jesting.
I am not sure. You have no chance.

Good race. Nice to see Roglic has learned how to make friends.

Don't think the chasing group, bar Pogacar & Vingegaard covered themselves in glory.

How much did Pogacar lose waiting for McNulty?

Brave to trust him. Days like this I really warm to Roglic then he reverts to sitting in the group until the last 200m but I suppose it's just the most efficient way to ride, especially when organisers dish out time bonuses on the line so shouldn't really be critical.

Good to see Valverde can still be Valverde on stages like this.
