The French getting away with that at the final penalty was ridiculous. The shot clock should have been restarted even before the ball fell off the tee.

I think your summary on Wales v Ireland is spot on, Ireland looked like they would eventually score when camped on the line whereas Wales never really looked like they would breach the defence even when Ireland were playing a man short. Ireland have also learn the NZ technique of killing any opportunity illegally and sucking up any penalties given, that one phase was ridiculous where they knew they were giving away a penalty and yellow so just gave away another 3 or 4 knowing the result wouldn't be any worse. Conceding a BP try at the very end was a bit galling after missing so many chances to close the gap. At least Wales are a young team though and will hopefully improve, the lack of depth still worries me though.

A bit strange that France could, possibly should, have lost their first three matches.

At each ruck, Ireland have a player on the side of the breakdown who swings around to the wrong side and slows up the ball, illegally, yet the referees seem blind to it (as there usually are to offences by the best sides in the world - the Kiwis have got away with things since forever!), yet they would ping the lesser sides for the same offence.

On the day, Scotland were the better side and beat England. If England had managed to catch, not knock on or miss the target on two of their attacks, they could have beaten Scotland. If they had the hands of Ireland, they would have beaten them by some margin . . . but that's whay Scotland were better.
From the matches I have seen so far, Wales need to start the first half like they start the second. For a side with an average age of 23 playing one of the world's top three sides, I don't think their second half performance was bad at all. The lad who has replaced Sexton is (as he needs to be!) a special player and Sheehan at Hooker is something else! Ireland seem to have the whole package at the moment - I can't help but think it could be a long time before Ireland get a proper tilt at the world cup again and that's a great shame. Hope I'm wrong.
Italy defence was incredible at times against a frantic French attack. No idea what's happened to France but Italy now showing that they can consistently play for 80 minutes against top tier teams. Cruel at the end.

Yup
It’s really obvious and yet they get away with it time and time again.
Home advantage includes getting the lion’s share of the breaks from “neutral” referees.

Scotland take an early lead after Italy had more success with a ball off the tee, than two weeks ago.
I struggle to watch ITV’s coverage. Their commentary teams just aren’t up to the job.
As I type, Scotland score a second try.

Not a bad match so far. Two teams willing to chuck the ball about.
I watched Pontypool v Llandovery on S4C Clic last night as I couldn’t get to the match. That was a really entertaining game of rugby. Llandovery are a real good side and it looked like being an embarrassment at half time with 6 tries to 1 on the board but Pontypool changed their game and cut out mistakes. They were never going to claw that lead back but edged the second half scoring 3 more tries to 2 by Llandovery. Most entertaining rugby match I’ve watched in a long time with some good youngsters on display.

Commentary is shocking. I was just saying that there has been some really bad handling errors just to be told that there are some amazing levels of skill on display. 🤔

This doesn’t bode well for Wales next week. There’s some real talent in this Italian team now. Scotland have gone off the boil.

The stadium announcer is really annoying though.

How the deliberate knock wasn't a yellow.
But now 2 point game, 2 minutes left

Italy hold out for 24 phases to win

Scotland and Wales need to have a chat. Wales need to learn how to play a first half, and Scotland need to learn how to play a second half.

There was cover there, not sure they’d have made the tackles but they were man for man. There’d been a fair few forward passes missed in the build up too so felt fair.
Superb defence in that final play. Italy’s discipline was so much better than in the past. Another few forward passes missed in that passage too.

Nice one Italy..

The cover question is whether it is a penalty try or not. A deliberate knock on in the red zone is a yellow. 95% of top refs would give a yellow, and 100% of English refs.
Great win for Italy having been 'robbed' against France.

An excellent match that, with quite the finish. Heroic defence from Italy.
Scotland went to sleep and that 14 point swing was crucial.
That has Wales as nailed on wooden spoonists, next week.
I refuse to comment on Gatland’s team selection tomorrow. Also the player exodus from the principality continues at pace.

Selection tomorrow is abysmal. It almost feels like he was saving players for Italy to avoid finishing bottom. I’m still struggling to comprehend Elias being in the squad let alone starting and as good a player as Josh Adams has been previously he’s clearly nowhere near his best.

Seems weird that Care is ‘only’ likely to get is 100th cap today after 16 years in and out of the squad. It feels like it has always been a bit of a case of trying to find someone to replace him but not quite doing it. Youngs was there for years, Foden had a fair few caps but then there must be a dozen others who’ve been given a few caps here and there.

A referee picking up some of Ireland’s dodgy practices. That will confuse them after getting away with it for the last few years.

The amount of forward passes that have been ignored in both matches today is ridiculous. It’s not even the ‘momentum rule’ as a lot have been either short passes or moves where the person passing is static. I’m all for keeping the ball in play but it’s kind of a fundamental law of the sport that you can’t pass forward.

The 'Respect the Kicker' thing is a bit odd, no?

England certainly on top atm.

Stupid, needless English penalties have keep Ireland in it, and gifted them the lead.

Ireland outplayed but still in the lead. I guess that’s what makes the difference for the best teams in any sport.

It’s been a long time since I’ve Ireland play this badly in the 6 Nations. It’s partly that England have put pressure on them from the start but they are just getting so many basics wrong. Looks like a yellow coming now too.
