If the last week is weather affected, this will be such an asterisk Giro. The positions and time gaps are broadly similar to what they were at the top of Etna, save for 10 seconds or so in bonuses that Almeida has picked up

It hides the amount of GC racing there has already been, the contenders haven't lost much time to each other but they have had to fend for themselves on several stages, even today for the last few km. It's interesting how looking purely at the GC doesn't necessarily give an accurate picture of the race.

You obviously haven't heard what the Plan "B"s are.

I read the Mortirolo is in there as one alternative?

Haven't seen the actual route but assuming it's at or close to the finish be interesting if the super steep stuff might have some of the real lightweight climbers hoping that is the route they use.

Looks like Plan "B" won't be needed as the weather is set to finally play ball.

Currently atop the Stelvio isn't bad either.

Saturday's Plan "B" is the one under most pressure from potentially being turned away at the French border and the rumoured Finestre replacement in need of some road repairs, not that it's really a road.
