Wow, he is good! It is shocking to see the vitriol for him on social media, I hope he can rise above it.

As a 48 year old son of hardcore Tories, I hope that he is not judged for life by his inherited political opinions at 19.

Gianni Moscon hasn't been judged for a whole season - he's probably fine.

I didnt realise he was so young I have to say, or so talented...

He's going to annoy of people who had left-leaning parents and the privilege of being ideologically 'pure' at 19.
He's going to be a feature in some of the big races going forward for sure.

Does anyone outside of the anglo-sphere actually give a toss about this "situation"?

Might be good for him to realise that outside the states being a Trump supporter puts you on the nutter spectrum.

    Who cares though.

If it really bugs you be pleased you have a villain in the peloton. Always makes races more fun to watch.

Look how much more Iain enjoyed Strade!

We already have Alaphilippe though, how much villain does one sport need?

I'm just trying to work out what people want from him. For him to leave the sport? Or perhaps lie in the interview and say "yes, I was terrible but the diversity training has really helped"

Basically, he reacted stupidly to being insulted. If anyone thinks he's the only Trump supporting American pro cyclist, they're an idiot. Ditto if you don't think there are Dutch, Belgie, French or Italian pro's who have disagreeable politics.
Fckin' Quintana … that creep can roll, man.
  • Simmons looked really strong yesterday before a puncture and crash ruined his hopes of a result in Strade Bianchi.

Rob Hatch couldn't mention Simmons yesterday without referring to the twitter controversy repeatedly. It looks like there is no room for someone who isn't woke or a liberal and is of a more conservative bent. Sad.

It will all blow over, especially if he builds on the promise he showed yesterday.

I'm not sure "isn't woke or a Liberal and is of a more conservative bent" adequately describes Trump and his core voters, tbh.

But that's just the persective of someone living in the Soviet Socialist Republic of Denmark...

Most of the people who voted for Trump also voted for John McCain and Mitt Romney. They'd probably vote for Bernie Sanders if you put a red rosette on him.

He is just a silly 19 yr old kid who has messed up ideas and needs to learn .

The main thing he needs to learn is being a neo Nazi is unacceptable. Peer pressure can be part of that

I don't have any issues with his comments.

But then Im more liberal than most of the commentators on here.

I'd imagine he is well aware of the fact that neo-Nazism is unacceptable. Has he said anything in his other tweets that indicate he is closet Nazi?

Wouldn't be my first choice to link, but it's the one that I can find that contains the full original spat that led to his suspension.

Indeed. Not being a twitter trawler I assumed it was because of this.

    Trump supporters = Neo Nazis?
I'm inclined to think more along the lines of easily led idiots who believe everything the read on twitter.

He strikes me as someone that has just listened to one too many Jordan Peterson podcasts rather than someone with any seriously held convictions. I suspect a little less Fox News is all he really needs

Dygart on the other hand I suspect is a lot more of a problematic...

The scary thing about Jordan Peterson, if you are a left-leaning liberal, is that he talks a fair amount of sense. And this idea that everyone who voted for Trump because they truly believe he is a stand-up guy is probably a good way wide of the mark. They voted for him as the Republican candidate because the Democratic candidate was deemed to be worse in so many ways! Trump's departure is a good thing but the new incumbents aren't much better, they just have the backing of the media, in the main.

The truly scary thing about Jordan Peterson is that some people think he is credible.

I suspect more people actively seek out and agree with his opinions than yours.

Well let's hope they're not seeking out dietary advice from him then, because his beef only diet is extremely dangerous.
