My 8th favourite moment of the day was when I posted "Pidcock looking perky" just before he got dropped and I received a message to say that my post was being assessed before it would be submitted to the forum... It still hasn't appeared.
I expect that "Pidcock" doing anything is going to be problematic in the future. Both for the forum moderator bots and the peloton.

WvA looked jealous on that 2nd step

Surprised Scott Davies wasn't in the GB squad. A bit more experience than most of the squad and a decent course for him.

Pidcock got round . Decent really but looks tame compared to.all these other youngsters

He was in the last thirty good, but yeah age can be used as an excuse with Pogacar about.
I think this young is the new black may be over egged tbh

    Valverde was 8th.
    Jesus

I hope he never retires. I want to see him to drop dead at the top of the Muur de Huy having come 9th in Fleche Wallonne at the age of 80.
I think he would be ok with that

Of course he may not have been able to and was just clinging on.

So average age of the top ten must be late 30s?

    Nice. :D

I checked out of interest and even with grandpa it's only 27.

    I made it 30 - 28,26,22,30,35,30,30,40,26,32 = sum of 299 /10 = 29.9 + 0.5 = 30.4 average age

Anyone know when the BBC highlights package will go up?

Just watching the highlights of the womens race. See some people saying it was boring but there's enough in it for a decent highlights package!

That actually suggests quite an experienced top 10. Only really Hirschi not at peak age. I think it feels like WVA is younger than he is as he was late committing to the road.
  • Thoughts on it being a good race.

I guess the course meant it wasnt going to deliver a classic finale and I'm delighted with the winner but not sure it made for interesting viewing.

    Totally delighted with that result.

I'm sure there were other domestiques doing great work too, but I was particularly keeping an eye out for Pidcock so couldn't help but notice Rowe who was magnificent all day. You could see him by Pidcock's side all race giving him advice, and even when he eventually was forced to drop off (way later than expected) you could see him making one last effort to make it up to the front to give him a word of encouragement.

It wasn't a classic but I thought it got interesting from about when the French went to the front on what, at the time, I thought was a fool's errand.

c210 kms of boredom, followed by 20 kms of what are the french doing, followed by a good race to the finish.

The French were softening everyone else up for the last lap. Make the race hard once the 200 km mark is passed and it soon sorts out the wheat from the chaff. Obviously you can't say it was just that, but one of the reasons why WVA couldn't go with Alaphilippe was because of the accumulated fatigue from the French efforts to make it a harder race.

Switched on for last 60km. Seemed like a good decision...

Alaphilippe overkill is going to go into overdrive next year

Coq and either Pinky or Perky are going to cause issues, mostly because the forum software assumes it's going to be something defamatory against David Cameron...

Arguably as good or better as James Shaw.

Shaw has earned some UCI points this season, Davies hasn't, so objectively he isn't.

In reality selection probably came down to where riders are needed by their pro teams. The Binkity Bonkity Tour starts on Tuesday. He may be need to be there for that

MvdP probably misjudged this parcours as too hard. At least in his usual form.

Mollard and Martin bought back Nibali and Landa two others that was critical and a all in effort. Then Martin attacked. Great ds ing from Voekler he read it spot on .

I was dealing with a rather large weedkiller spillage in the shed, but I caught the last 35km or so and I really enjoyed it.

For me it made a good case to return the worlds to the week following the Tour. It was really fun to see the main protagonists of the Tour smash it out over one day.
