But Kern Haus-Lotto only have 5 (according to PCS).

Hagens Berman Jayco, arguably the most successful development team of the past 20 years, have three. I think the nature of development teams means they announce their rosters later than WT teams, who have UCI deadlines that they have to meet. So I wouldn't read too much into it myself.

Agree, and if you're about to announce an agreement with a large WT team, you're probably unlikely to be handing out contracts before understanding what your biggest customer is looking for.

It can be seen as the team being successful too, if you're doing a good job in developing riders they should be moving on to bigger teams leaving spaces to be filled at the end of the season. You then wait to see who is available after the top teams of picked their direct talent.

Some interesting stuff from Pidcock last night at Rouleur Live
Seems lie things aren't yet sorted out (one way or another) between him and Ineos, and that he wants to focus on classics
Warning No formatter is installed for the format2 -
Very interesting indeed, thanks for posting.
He's clearly stated he wants to prioritise the classics, monuments and one day races, let's see what happens next year then I guess.

It's the sensible path. He has 0 shot against Pogacar and Vingegaard in GT's.

Critically it sounds like he has no real desire for it either.
The team did of course, and they would, as they were formed to win GTs and their only shot as it stands, having got shot of a wealth of decent talent, is CR, and he's not the complete package yet - look at their roster, and naturally their thoughts turn to Pidders as the only other option.

I don't think I'd be alone as a spectator in saying that I've known that for a year now. Ineos must have been aware or have been burying their heads in the sand.
The above may be fact, or fiction, I may be serious, I may be jesting.
I am not sure. You have no chance.Veronese68 wrote:PB is the most sensible person on here.1 -
Daniel Benson reporting that Pidcock is leaving Ineos and the team will issue a statement later today.

I hope they aren't spending all the money they save on van Gils.

Incredible really 😂

He's probably still their second highest paid rider.

That's a little strange after all the speculation had died down.
Something isnt right at Ineos. Maybe Pidcock was part of the problem. I doubt it though.

Interesting statement, mentioning multi-disciplinary ambitions, when I'm sure he'd mentioned concentrating fully on the road.

At least it is now done and dusted, well aside from where he is going, but I'm sure he knows, and hopefully is content.
I hope he has a good break, assuming he is not CXing (Chance for a final outing or two in Ineos kit?) and has a great few years ahead of him.

I'm surprised that most people seem to think Pidcock is completely blameless in all this. Who else caused Cummings to be benched, for example?
2 -
I don't think he is blameless, I suspect his outlook/attitude used to fit in with the team, but the teams management, outlook and lineup has changed drastically since those days, and Pidcock's approach has not, because he believes in it.
He's a very confident, some might say arrogant, person, who believes in his abilities, and rides to win.
I'm pleased he has not had to compromise that approach which has worked pretty well for him in the past imho, and am presuming/hoping that wherever he is ending up will know how to work with him, and vice versa.
I'm pleased they have come to a grown up decision between them, that is a very good thing.

So he’s either leaving at the end of the season or joining Q36.5 in the next week.

Also I wonder how much longer Ineos will be on Pinerellos given the owner of Q36.5 is also the Pinerello owner.
2 -
I think Pidcock caused some friction and that’s shown that Cummings couldn’t deal with that side. Best for both to move on.
1 -
This seemed inevitable for some months. Pidcock likes to win races and will focus his efforts where he believes he will have success. The crux of the whole relationship breakdown seems to stem from Ineos trying to turn him into a GC rider. As others have said, blame on both sides perhaps. Ineos for trying to force his hand on GC ambitions and Pidcock for likely spitting the dummy when things didn't go to plan (I assume this probably also caused the rift with Cummings, who I suspect told him to buck his ideas up and commit to what the team wanted).
I think any team has to accept what you get with Pidcock, a multi talented rider who wants to win the races he likes and do it his way. I think you either accept that and back him or just don't employ him.
1 -
There are two issues to me.
1- The Pidcock-Ineos relationship. I do not see anything other than both parties being responsible.
2- The total mess Ineos seem to be in at the moment generally. I cant see Pidcock can be blamed for that- that is the point I was attempting to make.
2 -
I'm not convinced he's that confident on the road anymore and that's probably a large part of the problem. He strikes me as someone who'll stick to what he wins at so as not to bruise his ego.
"Unfortunately these days a lot of people don’t understand the real quality of a bike" Ernesto Colnago1 -
Yet he’s turned up at cross races where he’s only going to win if Mathew and Wout crash. Also at this years Amstel Gold they were virtually engraving 2024 MVP on the trophy before the start.
