Might be unpopular but I can recommend not breaking bones in your wrist.

Better than a foot. At least you can still make yourself a cup of tea and carry it somewhere to drink it.

Yeah. Not knowing the full result for a full year was not the clear cut result I was hoping for this morning.

The recovery is partly what you make of it. Do the exercises they give you. Keep doing them.

Yeah currently it’s just do nothing. Bones in there take ages to heal

I can only sympathise, broke mine in May but they didn't think it was broken. Six weeks later they thought it may be broken, another 6 weeks and an MRI before they agreed it had definitley been broken. First 6 weeks I'd been told to use it, second six weeks it was in a splint. Break has now healed but the ligament damage is worse than the break, but I was borderline for surgery so now having physio before meeting thee doc again in 3 weeks. If I have the surgery I would only be able to flex my wrist 45 degrees in each direction even if it's successful, I'm nearly there after the physio so hoping no surgery wil be necessary. I've managed to ride a bike a couple of times in the last fortnight, but only for about 5 or 6 miles. By then my wrist is swollen and painful.
There are worse things to break no doubt, but it's still really tedious. Best of luck with the recovery.

Trying to remember how long the physio was for my little finger when that got broken. I think it was 4 or 5 months of appointments to get everything moving and a couple of months after that before it felt 'normal' (as good as it was going to get). I'd imagine a wrist would take longer.

Sorry to hear that V68. Very glad they screwed my finger back together within days of me breaking it.

Not whingeing at all. My care was excellent, bar one registrar with a rather peculiar approach. Just confirming that even relatively minor injuries can take a long time to heal.

I don't mind peculiar registrars providing they have excellent hand-eye coordination. It can be annoying in follow up appointments if they don't check your name on the file, take a look at your X-rays and mumble, oh, that's not good.

This one literally threatened me with more surgery if I didn't improve the mobility in my finger. Very odd.

Not all registrars are destined to become consultants.

Agree - you may have to find something about the rehab that focusses your mind a bit Rick. Get into a routine, just like anything else...

👍 Can't see it being played much on the BBC somehow. On a related, BBC announced that the sanitised version of The Pogues and Kirsty Mac's would be played on R1 in case the proper original lyrics caused offence in younger audience members. 🤔 Heard any rap etc etc lyrics any time in the past couple of decades?

Fairly sure R1 don’t play uncensored rap before 9pm and even then.

They do play the revised softer lyric version of Eminem records from his first album when there was a phase of rappers giving softer alternatives for radio.

    Ultimate manufactured argument.

It’s odd how angry people are getting around wanting to say fagot.

Point is more about a (virtue signalling? 😉) position that a single word might cause such offence in a generation who are probably desensitised to swearing and 'offensive' language being part of musical culture.

Fairytale of New York is a great song but I've grown to.absolutely loathe it now due to over exposure.

Bollox to the BBC for that. Hopefully it will backfire and the song will make a comeback as the Xmas number one :)

Seem to remember their refusal to play 'Relax' by Frankie goes to Hollywood helped sales of thst single.

That was Mike Read / Reid that took offence. Backfired somewhat.
Only time I’ve heard of him in the last decade was his Brexit opinion. Suspect he got that one wrong too but hoping I’m wrong.

I remembered it being slightly more interesting than that so I researched.
    Conclusions and offending sleeve below.

"Some facts about the song: 1) The original version of "Relax" by the then-unsigned FGTH was more of a rock song and NOTHING like the up-tempo, pop/synth anthem Trevor Horn would later produce. 2) It's a fallacy that Mike Read got the song banned from BBC Radio One. He refused to play it on his show because of the song's sexual content, but most of all, he objected to the single's artwork which depicted a near-naked man and woman wearing sadomasochistic outfits. Other DJ's, including the legendary John Peel, praised the song's edginess. The BBC decided to ban it when there was a public outcry following Channel Four's decision to air the unedited promo video for it on their music TV show "The Tube". Only BBC radio banned the song. The UK's commercial stations continued to play it, labelling the song "the one the BBC refuses to play!". 3) The song is primarily about sex (both heterosexual and homosexual), but it's more about orgasms than anything else (as is explained on the Welcome To The Pleasuredome album). 4) Apart from the classic "Blue Monday" by New Order, "Relax!" was the biggest selling 12inch vinyl single of the early-mid 80s. 5) FGTH parodied BBC Radio One DJ Mike Read on the 12 inch version of The Power Of Love by recreating his "on-air rant" about "Relax!". 5) The group caused further controversy on the Welcome To The Pleasuredome album by having an impersonator mimic Prince Charles talking about orgasms! 6) The song features on the soundtrack of the Police Academy movie (it was still in the US chart at the time the movie came out). 7) The song has been re-released twice (1994/2000) in remix form. Trevor Horn claims he has collected over 200 different remixes of "Relax!". 8) The compilation album, "Now That's What I Call Music Volume 2" became a best seller in 1984 as it featured the song in it's entirety (this was before FGTH released their debut album). 9) FGTH were the biggest selling group signed to Island Records subsidiary arm ZTT Records. 10) It's believed that when FGTH finally appeared on the BBC music programme Top Of The Pops to perform the song on the Christmas edition of the show, they intentionally sang the lyrics "Cum! Cum! Cum!" louder than everything else to infuriate the corporation. It was also the first time the word "cum" was heard on BBC TV.

Didn't the BBC also ban the video of Two Tribes? I remember watching that on The Tube.

Yep, the video got banned at one point. Didn't hurt that one either as Relax and Two Tribes were the 6th and 22nd best selling singles in the UK apparently.

I have the 'Welcome to the Pleasuredome' album vinyl somewhere in my boxes of such plasticky things. Cannot be arrised to put together the deck / amp / speakers / metres of cables to play vinyls, been a long time since I listened to it. Spotify beckons later I reckon.

Reckon I'll be playing a bit of FGTH and The Pogues later :)

Mine is permanently set up so I can record my rare vinyl to digital when I have the time/inclination. Coincidentally there is a FGTH boxset in the next batch. 😉
