Get the sense that he would have walked that if he had waited for the sprint but didn't need it. Fantastic stuff

There may be some small time gaps at the finish. A big gap between the two Ineos riders looked more than a second.

Good show. Not something you can say about the third stage of the TDF very often.

Julian InthestyleofPhilip in yellow should be good for making sure he stays interested for the next few days.

He got a monster gap so fast.

50 seconds in a KM basically.

Great stage win and a well deserved yellow jersey. I came so close to changing my PTP pick for him yesterday and probably would have if I'd realised quite how steep that finish was going to be but stuck with Matthews so did OK anyway.

I don't really blame them.. I didn't think he would be able to hold it to the finish and they ate back into it pretty quickly but then stalled

    No other split.
Only Aru if he's still considered, lost just under a minute and Zakarin, who shipped three and a half.

Finding that Ned is starting to grate on me a bit, as he's grown in confidence in the main commentator role he seems to have fallen into the trap of backing everyone for the win or bigging up TT abilities of various riders..

He was turning into Carlton at the end, didn't seem to be able to work out that the graphic showing the distance next to a chequered flag that kept reducing was actually the distance to the finish rather than the distance from the leader to the chasing group

Matthews and Stuyven, a surprise interloper into the top 3.

Pinot and Bernal the only GC guys on the right side of the 5 second split?
  • Other than the big punch off the front I reckon Alaphilippe gained most of his time on the descents.
