Chris Froome

The bbc report on Froome this morning has added more detail.
He looks like he’s in a very bad way. I wish him and his family well and hope he recovers as quickly as possible.

Given the extent of his injuries it is going to be some time before any sort of recovery timeline can be estimated.
Let's just hope for the best.
That said, you never know...
It sounds like the crash was on the verge of being close to life changing, let alone career ending.
2011 Specialized Hardrock Sport Disc (son #4s)
2013 Decathlon Triban 3 (red) (mine)
2019 Hoy Bonaly 26" Disc (son #2s)
2018 Voodoo Bizango (mine)
2018 Voodoo Maji (wife's)
Best wishes to him.
Indeed. With examples like Weylandts and Casartelli still so fresh in the memory, we can only be thankful that a rider hitting concrete at speed gets to tell the tale.
"So, Rick, Froome ey? WTF is he playing at taking his hands of the bars? Taking his hands off the bars at high speed? What an idiot"
"TBF, I think he probably knows more about what he's doing on the bike than you"
"Nah, you're an idiot if you take your hands off your handlebars"
"What about indicating"
"not at speed mate, he's an idiot"
Excellent.
DD.
Ask if they always have both hands on the steering wheel when driving down the motorway...
My blog and pod...
Beers of Belgium Cycling Club UK
they work in a bank, they always need one hand free
saw a post on Twitter responding to ITV's video of him riding whilst taking off his gilet just before he crashed which said 'Not a very good example to set for cyclists'. I assume they feel that Lewis Hamilton overtaking up the inside of a corner at 100mph is also a poor example to set for drivers...
Update on Chris Froome from Brailsford. Looking positive and a case of recovery.

That'll cheer him up

Great news, it sounded a bit dire yesterday.
Will be riding not far from where it happened before the end of June, so will be extra careful. I have descended twice where Fabio Casartelli met his end - it always give me the creeps - wasn't exactly a wall but same sort of thing.
Was recently loaned a bike with those deep section rims and was warned to be careful in side winds as they can catch the wheel and blow you off course. Wise advice.
