Seemingly trivial things that intrigue you

Yeah, they are targeting new customers so my stereotype is out of date.
Floating Benidorm? Eurgh.

I guess they aren't ideal for semi-misanthropes like me. There are times when I love a ride with other people, and other times when eight hours in the saddle away from everyone is bliss.

Don’t think that one is intended for the Boomers with its massive water park. The one I went on was very Boomer friendly but the ship was classy. That new thing is aiming for the drinks package crowd, my sister has been on a few of those where security had to basically imprison a bunch on drunk chavs in their room until they could chuck them off at the next port following drunken fights.

Understandable. DW manufacturers are very careful to claim that their products do not sterilise.

It’s mainly all the syringes & crap (not needles). 3 per feed 8 feeds a day adds up. I’m not expecting them to last more than a few weeks - in hospital they’d be single use

One of the best arguments for breastfeeding, in my opinion, is not having to worry about sterilising stuff. Obviously, there may be reasons this isn't an option.

How are they supposedly irradiating the nooks and crevices of those objects? UV sterilisation is a thing, but it only works where the light reaches.

Maybe I have misread but I thought they counted 36 weeks as term - ie all organs are formed and then just fattening up for the big day.

The nice thing about ours going to term was we could be really laissez-faire about washing anything.

40 is full term, 37 is fine, anything before is premature, he was 35.
main thing at that age is poor feeding skills as they practice that from 35-37 weeks.
Combined with Turbo jaundice = very sick baby but not a problem long term at all.
There’s no real concern, it’s just quite full on for the parent in this phase.

It depends on the country, but full term in the UK is anything that is not premature, in other words more than 37 weeks. In other countries it is different e.g. in the US, it is 39 weeks.
In any case, hope things improve for you.

Those numbers of weeks can only be based on an average rounded to the nearest week, and so it's not surprising that they are slightly different in different countries.

can he breathe on his own? (lungs are last to form at 35 weeks.)
The other green light you need is to be able to maintain his own body temp. I think this is 5lbs. I used to spend hours talking to the nurses and became a bit of an expert on baby release criteria.

Yeah he came out healthy. Cried before he was all the way out so he’s fine. Like I said, it’s just turbo jaundice (way above the exchange transfusion line within 6hrs of birth) and learning and being strong enough to feed and gain more than he burns doing so.

Wondering which way the £/€ will drift. Might do a eurostash if it gets to 1.18, as I'm getting the French roof done at Easter, so copious funds will be needed there. Might hedge my bets and do half now, and the other half nearer the time.
Crystal balls, eh?

When it's winter, Tesco and others stock these Lebkuchen biscuits. They're one of my favourites and we usually get through a couple of bags full at least.
They come in a variety of shapes...
... most of which are obvious. But, what the hell is that one supposed to be, on the far right? The Slogs think it looks like a tooth, but if so, why?

Enjoy them... 😉

Turn it 90 degrees clockwise and I see a dogs head. But still, why?

I see a lions head or something like that.
Could just be a sweet tooth?
