Seemingly trivial things that intrigue you

Being a fifth flagger sounds like some sort of deviant behaviour.

Yes, they've got to do something about it. I guess regular posters are more prepared to spend the time doing a spot of housekeeping. But it will wear people down and make newcomers stay away.

Prepared to do it now and then yes, if it was this bad every day I think the place would be dead in a week

If the Brexit thread has driven people away a few spambots aren't going to do the job!

Exactly, I really am quite bored of it now. Flagged another batch and got the 5th flag on about a dozen of them. But if it carries on I'll get bored and visit less and less. I'm sure most will feel similarly. Curtis5 is now over 850 flags, how is he not blocked?

A complete lack of moderation and/or administration.
The above may be fact, or fiction, I may be serious, I may be jesting.

Have to say the Brexit is a bit dull and repetitive, but to say its driven people away is a bit strong 😊

Yeah, meant hasn't!

I would love to hear the demented steps of reasoning there.

I think you forgot the scare quotes round 'reasoning'. I'm fully expecting renewables to be 'woke' next.

I am glad to be able to remove those pesky spells and hexes.....

So socialism is about equal outcome not opportunity.
So wanting everyone to live in a hospitable environment is socialist.
Giving everyone the opportunity to live somewhere hospitable, however limited if they have enough money and gumption to move, that’s capitalist.

I shouldn't have asked.

How did forum mainentance manage to make forum vulnerable to spam again, allowing new members to post so frequently, when this wasn't a problem after the '19(?) maintenance?

The best location in a house for a torch, water and a radio?

And is it worth the hassle?

I just bought a rechargeable camping lantern when power cuts seemed possible, but now it doubles up as a reading lamp by my bed. So that's where it is. I keep a supply of water ready in the tap. Radio - nah. Well not other than through mobile data, though it might be worth keeping a battery pack charged up, especially if one's in a remote area which is more likely to suffer an extended outage.

Hmmm. The thing is if it all starts to get a bit overtly glowy I don't think being around past 36 hours would be much fun anyway. It does surprise me at the NATO chiefs comments. I think people are better of living blissfully with this regard.

How long it's going to take the forum admin to log in and clear up the mess.

Why does Cake Stop seem exempt from the spam? Is it one of you lot doing it?

Perhaps we’ve been identified as a squadron of 5th flaggers not to be messed with.

It's Rick trying to prevent any meaningful discussion whilst he's tending to his latest addition to the housing shortfall problem.

I'm not fifth flagging anyone, even sloppy seconds is too much for me!

I’m all flagged out too.

Depends where you live.

By the back door we have a few such items for illumination. Mainly so we can walk to the pub. My car came equipped with a radio.
We now have a wood burner for heating needs. The only thing that wouldn't work is drinking water. We'd have to resort to the tanks in the loft if that was cut off, or wait until it rains, which wouldn't be long.

I think @focuszing723 was referring more to the worldwide warnings of the increasing potential for war, not the storm.
Warnings conveniently ignored in this country.

He's been watching Netflix. I see.
In that case, we are all doomed and a few bottles of Volvic won't help.

I wouldn't say war is imminent or a definite but the red flags are there and it would be silly to bury heads in the sand.
Read the sources, not the messengers. 😉
