The only current French cyclist to have been in a Grand Tour winning team. God knows who the last before him was. Probably Nicolas Portal.

I'd been expecting a move of some kind, I'm not sure he (all 52kg of him) achieved what they were hoping for, or perhaps he has chosen to move away because he feels he is not given enough opportunities.

Loyalty maybe, rather than integrity, if one chooses to look things in such terms.

    I'd say insular and outdated.

    Zakarin to CCC

gonna be interesting to see what happens to the Katusha lot if that team does fold...

Also apparently Quintana off to Arkea...

Quintana + 3 other riders to Arkea. Winner Ancona one of those riders. breaking news (rumour) is that Dumoulin will move to Jumbo having had his contract bought or bought himself out.

Arkea need someone, they're anonymous in the Tour and not worth their place so far.

    Ciro says so...

They are protecting there leader like most other teams. Not sure what you want them to do. Barguil getting through the early stages

With them already signing Greipel and with Viviani rumoured to Cofidis, is this a sign that finally, French teams are dragging themselves into a more 21st century mindset? Realizing that in order to compete at the top level, they have to invest in foreign riders, rather than pick up young French riders they get a tip about down the pub.

a lot of it is budget as well. viviani, being the fastest (or one of the current fastest) sprinters, is a premium addition. he needs a stronger leadout/ support train than what cofidis have. either Richeze (who is probably the best active leadout man) or someone who can do a hard effort ahead of a final kick is missing from their team. they'd need a few others who are stronger than their current riders as well. Have Cofidis got the $$$... probably. will they do it, not sure....

Is he chasing GC this year then? If so losing him a shed load of time with a weak team in the TTT wasn't very helpful.

I think they should create a team of brothers of stars - Dayer Quintana, Antonio Nibali, Juraj Sagan, Adam Yates ( )

As I may have tweeted, at least this means we don't have to consider him a GC contender any more...

Canyon, innit. VDP's tied to them for four years. So unless they supply a different team or decide to stay with an uncertain Katusha, Movistar it is. To be fair they've always done right by Valverde in the Classics, and I'm sure they'll buy in some support. The right DSs might not be there but apparently VDP doesn't listen to anyone anyway.

Elsewhere, according to Inner Ring Nils Politt is off to Quick Step.
