Shadowing that superb, smooth talking global diplomat, David Lammy 😄

She was sacked as International Development secretary for that, nobody has let someone who would do that anywhere near the overseas brief again until now.

Was it International Development, I must have been mixing her up with BOJO as FS.

He's there for when Labour try to repeal/amend the Tory NI veterans amnesty
Troubles ahead

Same people, same boat, musical deckchairs while the band plays on.
Another excuse for sharing the best thing that Will Self ever did.

Well I was obviously wrong when I thought she'd reached the bottom of the barrel.

First PMQs for Badenoch. As Starmer pointed out, she needs to not read from a script.

I'm not sure what the point of her 6 questions was yesterday

Trying to make Starmer uncomfortable. He'll be happy enough with that, he's had years of not listening to what the person the other side of the despatch box says and just getting on with what he wants to say.

That's the opinion here although many might disagree with the conclusion.

Anyone up against a snake oil salesman offering a cure to their ills should be nervous if all they have to offer is lemsip.
This is the politics of the mid 21st century. I've concluded that something needs to go drastically wrong for there to be a rebound back towards any association with reality or honesty. Things going merely terribly isn't enough to snuff out populism.

It will take more than someone opposite the PM trying to ask awkward questions to make PMQs appointment viewing. That's all it's been for years. It would take the PM to actually start answering those questions for it to become worth watching.

Have to say I enjoyed watching Lammy squirm when his previous tweets about Trump were mentioned by Badenoch.

Sure.
But she could have made him uncomfortable on the budget.

She gave it a go, but the obr chief has handed him a pretty good response if she went after the proper tax rise.

Not bad going for the first week in the job...

I thought the Tories were already ahead? Or is this a bad week for opinion polls?

You'll be saying you lost the election but won the argument next 😉

Conversely, Labour are already showing that the only way is down (and left) for them 😊

Are either 29% or 25% numbers to be excited about?

Obviously not, but I guess any crumb of comfort helps.

Badenoch was giving evidence on the post office scandal today. Seems to come out of it ok unless I missed something.

John Crace gives a different perspective (not surprisingly - it's his job to criticise & poke fun):
Like many narcissists, she is a curious mixture of the thick- and thin-skinned. She likes to present herself as a no-nonsense, tough woman. Someone who isn’t afraid to go toe-to-toe with her opponents. Who can tell it like it is. But beneath the surface there’s a vulnerability that she despises. It’s why she lashes out so readily. The person she dislikes the most is herself.

Not much evidence in the article.
