312km & 5,050m of climbing = 3x 104km & 1,683m of climbing.
I'd break it down like that since it's much easier mentally to visualise.
I did a ride in Spain last year which was 167km & 4,200m of climbing. I broke that down into chunks too. Being 89kg at the time, I needed all the positive motivation I could get!
On another note. You're all mad.
Yeah, I'll try to think of it as 4 times 50 miles, with the bonus that the final chunk will be a bit shorter!0 -
I am planning on doing the full 312 on Saturday, providing I make the cutoffs!
Does anybody have advice on what to carry on the bike. I guess I will need 2 bottles especially as it appears the first feed station can be a bit chaotic. I will also carry enough food to skip the stop.
Inner tubes, tyre levers etc. I guess I will need those. However if I get a puncture are there opportunities to buy tubes en route or should I consider carrying two tubes?
Anything else I might want to carry on the bike?0 -
I'll just carry one tube and a glueless patch kit.
Will probably take some hydration tablets to stick in my bottles, particularly of it's going to be hot. A small tube of extra sunscreen might be useful too.
Hoping to get away without carrying any extra clothing. Might be a bit chilly early on in shorts and short sleeves but I'm sure it will soon warm up.0 -

I did a 300 on Friday. I've got nobody who can pick me up, so I tend to carry too much stuff, but for your benefit
3 inner tubes + a spare tyre (Vittoria Corsa folds flat)
Pump, 3 levers + tools including chain splitter
2 Maps, 'cause you can never rely on GPS solely, but that's not your problem
room for clothes, as I started at 7 degrees, but then it got to 24.
2 Bottles, wasn't enough, had to refill twice
6 energy bars, for emergency, in case shops were closed for Easter etc... I only used 2.
A Battery charger for the Garmin (5Ah portable Anker with cable and USB condom)
a very very small cable lock (you might not need this either)
Phone + cards + cash
I find for long rides, aero bars are a must, to give you more options and avoid ulnar nerve damage, but I understand they are not allowed in "sportives"
You can find a photo of the loaded bike here
