Also well done to Nieve, to 2x Cofidis and Alaphilippe for being so long near the front, and Barguil for showing he isn't a wash-out. They all animated the race too.
Valverde was never a real contender. If he was sky wouldn't have given him a 90 secondss head start. If movistar really wanted to stir thngs up they'd be using the other 2. If they're not prepared to do that Sky will walk away with this race.
If they don't chase, they lose. It's like if Froome attacked now, Thomas can just sit there and let them chase and react to it.
In the moment Thomas attacked today the Thomas/Froome co leader thing became Sky's problem. Had everyone held their nerve Froome would have had to chase or watch Thomas ride away with *his* tour
Now they're in the box seat as you describe. I can't see Thomas attacking again.“New York has the haircuts, London has the trousers, but Belfast has the reason!0 -
Quintana can't cope with Froome's accelerations but hasn't Dumolin's pacing instincts“New York has the haircuts, London has the trousers, but Belfast has the reason!0

There aren't enough tears for Cav. Where are the tears?
I am a sad Panda; albeit a sad Panda that has just had a nice grilled salmon and avacado bagel, so I am still very upset, but not hysterical as I might otherwise be.
Poor Cav0 -

Theres still a part of me that thinks Quintana is going to pull out his real passport and admit hes 38, and gave Movistar a forged birth certificate when he signed.
I know Uran got banged up in Roubaix but doesn't look like them training on back in Columbia beats racing kms0 -

You should be too busy educating people about sexual harassment to eat that middle class rubbish."Unfortunately these days a lot of people don’t understand the real quality of a bike" Ernesto Colnago0 -

This is why teams like Movistar turn up with 3 leaders.0 -

What happened to Landa? I was expecting more, perhaps still recovering from the crash on the cobbles.
Another great ride from Dan.0 -

Dan deserves a better team, he'd be in with a shout of the podium but for the TTT. He still could be I suppose if the Giro takes its toll and / or G cracks.0

If Thomas doesn’t collapse it’s pretty awkward for Froome to grab it.
It’d have to be a Sastre esq move while Thomas shadows.
I think in his yellow jersey interview on the highlights show tonight G implied he could see what's coming, possibly tomorrow or maybe Sky will just keep the status quo until stage 17 in the Pyranees. At least that would reward him for all his effort with several days in yellow.0 -
Millar had a nice story about Cavendish on the ITV podcast. He said he went down to somewhere called 'diversion' near the finish (probably where the vehicles pull off) to see Cavendish finish and he found Rod Ellingworth there. He asked Ellingworth why he was there and he said he felt a little bit responsible for it as he'd drilled into him as a junior that you always finish a race. And despite all Sky's success today he made time to clap Cavendish across the line.Twitter: @RichN950

Diversion is where sky send staff members to throw the authorities off the scent while another staffer gets the drugs. Its so crazy it just might work."Unfortunately these days a lot of people don’t understand the real quality of a bike" Ernesto Colnago0 -

Yes. I think people notice that. It would be good if ITV4 get Cav on the commentary. I know they have before. I like his current insight.0 -

Yep. Interesting to see if Sky let them race. For the interests of the racing spectators, that's the best outcome. The strongest racer wins. I'd be terribly disappointed if Froome is handed the yellow by GT by a "team order". A true racer wouldn't want that, you'd want to win it off your own back. But, I guess professional sport doesn't always work that way.
Cav sent home. Surprised if he gets a guernsey at the tour ever again. Kittel in the same boat. Movistar need to re-assess their team. Quintana is done for this Tour. Best hope looks to be Landa but tven then, this team must be bitterly disappointed in their performances both last year and this year.0 -

Although not that ideal, because my cousin is getting married that day.

Well, no, because everybody can just sit there and not bother chasing when one of the Movistar boys attacks. They'll be coming back to you soon enough.0 -

I'm gutted for Cav. Regardless of intention, Sagan really did a number on him last year...We're in danger of confusing passion with incompetence
