Blimey, that was excellent. Found a pub with Wi-Fi, and I'm glad I did!

The Froome-G dynamic will be interesting. Will G be happy with one (or maybe more) stage wins?

Lost a load of respect for him today. When is his contract up?

He just looked like a wheel-sucker on that last climb. So passive.
  • Good days racing mainly down to Dumoulin being able to animate.

Bardet group did well in the end to limit that to 40 secs off Froome - I thought it was going to snap to a 1 min 30 + at one point

Just don't get excited about Thomas' abilities for some reason ....

Looong way to go yet. Those who have done the Giro will start to feel it. Trust me.

At least he will remain the last Frenchman to have won a tour.
I think Hinault secretly hopes he doesn't live to see a French winner so that he can be lauded and never have to buy another drink till the end of his days!

This gives everyone else a far bigger problem than it gives Sky - it's now entirely credible that they're happy for either Thomas or Froome to win.

Must confess I was inordinately amused by Dumoulin nicking the time bonus off Froome...

Thomas could protect 1m30 all the way to Paris and still ride as a super-dom for Froome.

And there we have it. Sky win the Tour- it’s all about “just ticking the days off” from here.

But is Froome happy for Geraint to win?

That's a very realistic possibility, technically he was playing a team mate role perfectly today

Can't believe last time I looked at the tv Nieve was upfront and about to win while G was halfway down the mountain ... I turn around for one minute... then by magic G came out of nowhere to win ?

The tail end charlies need to get together, according to Boardman the usual grupetto is split into a number of smaller groups.

How do we think this will play out? Really up to Froome now to use the other team members in the mountains and take time off G *if* he can. I hope they don't make G sacrifice himself .

Assuming Froome and G just follow each other in from here... What is your expectation on the TT stage 20... 31km of quite punchy looking course.

If he rode exactly the same way for the rest of the MTF but finished second to Froome he'd still have done his job for his team leader AND won the TdF as a consequence. He can't be so humble and team-orientated that the thought hasn't crossed his mind.

Froome is going to have to ride at least once very hard to overcome his teammate, and I'd say he has to do that this week - would Sky really jeopardise Froome and Thomas both winning by making them duke it out toe to toe in the Pyrenees?

On the one hand, as a ruthless winner, Froome is unlikely to instinctively want to enable a G win: on the other, they're good mates who go each other's weddings and a G win (with Froome 2nd) might allay some of the anti-Sky stuff. And in the bigger picture, because of Froome's dominance in this generation of GTs, G might do a Wiggins and say 1 Tour win is enough.

I really like that and think it is very insightful. Let's see how this pans out...

Sky won't let Froome off the leash to beat G.

If Froome wins, it'll be because of a Thomas blow up.
