I still think Froome is winning this Tour. I just can't see Thomas being this strong for every mountain stage. It's only a bit of sport, Mun. Relax and enjoy the racing.0

Granted, but so is Froome. Froome's climbing+TTing > Thomas' climbing+TTing. It's only a bit of sport, Mun. Relax and enjoy the racing.0 -
Was that yell of pain over the commentary Vino's cry of protestations?I ride a bike. Doesn't make me green or a tree hugger. I drive a car too.0

G has to stay up there with the other GC's or it's fair game for Froome. Tomorrow should be spectacular and still only halfway through.0 -

Must confess I was inordinately amused by Dumoulin nicking the time bonus off Froome...
I wasn't. Those were fantasy league points given up to a bitter rival.Warning No formatter is installed for the format0 -

So, will Valverde be having words with the two other amigos tonight? Put himself out there and then Quintana did nowt.Warning No formatter is installed for the format0

Chris Froome spoke briefly post stage. He confirmed that Thomas' attack was not part of the pre-race plan.
"It's an amazing position for us, I don't think we quite expected that going into today's stage. I think initially everybody thought Alpe d'Huez would be the more decisive and it very well still could be. It puts us in a fantastic position going into tomorrow's stage," Froome told Eurosport.
"I think it was a spur of the moment thing but it made sense, it was perfect. We didn't even have to talk, it was the right thing for G to do and push on there. I let the wheel go because I knew it would put the onus on the rest of the guys to chase."
He didn't really even wait for Martin's attack. Several times he attempted to bridge across.0 -

Did he give them 20 Euro for the petrol?“New York has the haircuts, London has the trousers, but Belfast has the reason!0 -
When Thomas attacked every other rider needed to hold their nerve and let Froome chase.
If they're not prepared to do that Sky will walk away with this race.“New York has the haircuts, London has the trousers, but Belfast has the reason!0 -
I said yesterday this would be a classic stage as it was the day I couldn't watch live. Chuffed for G but was torn as I really wanted Nieve to take the stage for all the work he's done for others in the past. Hats off to Movistar for taking the risk and making a race that has ultimately left all 3 leaders looking unlikely to stand a chance. Good effort by Dumoulin who ultimately managed to get the most he could have hoped out of the stage. Most of all it was great to see Geraint showing a killer instinct. Dan Martin superb again as well.0

Brilliant race today and I thought Dumoulin did well but the early steady pace and the final climb suited him somewhat. However, I don't think he's going to like tomorrow's stage as it's a lot longer at 174km with two HC climbs to limber up and then the Alpe to finish. I think he put a lot of effort in today as well so will probably be tired tomorrow.
I think Thomas and Froome will be looking to put serious time into him.
I also love the way that Boulting and Millar persist in thinking Valverde is helping Quintana by going up the road. The only person that Valverde is trying to help is Valverde and that's been apparent for years.0 -

But one of those riders was Dan Martin, and you know what happens when he sees the 4km banner. Froome was probably already winding up in anticipation.0 -

If they don't chase, they lose. It's like if Froome attacked now, Thomas can just sit there and let them chase and react to it.Fckin' Quintana … that creep can roll, man.0
