My go to would be chocolate milk, but can anyone make any recommendations they swear by for increasing performance?

A recovery drink is not going to 'increase performance' - it's only going to help you recover.

Milk without the chocolate. It has all the electrolytes you need, and a bit of fat protein and sugar, no need to add further sugar

Any milkshake. Whatever flavour you want. I'd not do it after every workout but after longer ones.

A recovery drink is not going to 'increase performance' - it's only going to help you recover.

I think you'll find that rest and recovery are actually key to increasing performance.

It depends, if you do say just a 50 mile ride and take on fluids when on it, there's no need for anything post ride really just carry on as normal. If you're doing regimented hard training with particular goals in mind things mind then of course things may be different. What is the training regime OP? Or is there one at all?

Frijj milkshakes, my wife buys them for me in Asda at 50p each. I find them brilliant after a long hard ride or any event.

Forget those repeated Vo2 max sessions on Teide, you just need 24 hours sleep a day

I'd check the sugar content of those if I were sensible

Craft beer gives you man boobs according to science. It's also really hard to drink and makes my stomach unhappy so if I am in that sort of establishment I tend to go for 11% imperial stouts and the like which makes my stomach feel better and then very suddenly worse.

I go with this, but have them seperately - that might be because the protein is either Mocha\Chocolate Brownie\Salted Caramel, and the BCAA is summer berries (Or something of that ilk!)

I also on occasion have a LA Erdinger, which is top drawer - I also consume these randomly anyway:

    Wheat beer

    Refreshing isotonic drink

    Vitamin-rich

    Reduced calories

Erdinger Alkoholfrei is brewed under the strict Bavarian Purity Law, which means it is made from only high quality, natural ingredients. The isotonic thirst quencher with the inimitable refreshing taste provides the body with essential nutrients. Folic acid and vitamin B12 reduce fatigue and support the immune system, B12 also promotes energy-yielding metabolism. Just one bottle (0.5l) per day contributes to a healthy nutrition.

On the topic of milk, we have stopped buying cow milk for ourselves now, just for the littleun, but use soya milk - unsweetened, and I don't miss the other stuff at all.
I also use almond milk here and there, smoothies and the like.

There were no earth saving, or hippy thinking reasons for changing, it just happened by accident, as I bought some to try, and we both preferred it.
I don't generally drink tea anymore, and take my coffee black - so it's primarily for cereal.

The only think that annoys me, is that you can only (seemingly) buy them in 1l containers, which I don't think can be recycled.

    I have:

a scoop of unflavoured whey protein (which has all the BCAA you need in it anyway, the flavouring in standard whey drinks is often pretty bad for you),
1 banana (good carbs, good ratio of fructose and glucose),
a few oats (slower release carbs), milk (slower release protein),
a pinch of salt (helps replace fluid loss) and
a slug of maple syrup (delicious!).

If it's been really warm I may also throw in some frozen berries as they are also delicious, good for you and kinda act as ice cubes. I whizz all this in a blender.

If it's been a very hard ride I'll likely have handful of raisins or some other sort of high sugar fruit.

Chocolate milk is a nice option due to carb to protein ratio, being effective at rehydration and having a mild anti inflamatory effect. Regrettably, i seem to have stopped tolerating milk in my old age. It turns out, water and meal are also pretty darn good.
