Bloody typical British roads!! I blame the council.
Hope all heal quickly as it looked nasty.
It looked like the bars came off in her hands.
Did they determine what caused it - just catching up - couldn't tell if her hand slipped off but it looked almost as if the bars rotated wondered if maybe a bolt on the face plate on the stem had broken ?
not that Ive picked up has been publically stated anyway, but Im not sure anyone is looking into it too hard to be fair, it was a crash, its one of those ever present dangers in bike races, I dont think in most cycling teams they dwell on analysing it too much just pick up the bits and carry on, whilst it certainly looked like something broke to me as a result of hitting the pot hole, ultimately it was hitting the pot hole that was the issue.0 -

Not that big a hole really, I'm sure we've all hit worse than that and survived.0 -

3m53 in here https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_hIVOjX9VTc if you want to try to debug it. It looks to me like she took her left hand off the bars for a second to shake it out, hit the hole and shot forward on the bike and just lost it. Don't think anything broke.2015 Canyon Nerve AL 6.0 (son #1's)

The hole she hit had a sign post just after it in their direction of travel. I doubt that's the same hole"Unfortunately these days a lot of people don’t understand the real quality of a bike" Ernesto Colnago0 -
I think it is. There is a red brick cottage with a wooden fence on LH side as we view it whose entranceway has the hole just outside it. Then there is the 40mph sign on the verge, then the next entranceway on left is to the golf course and vets.
Just for interest I had a look on Streetview and lo, the hole is visible there.
(For many years I lived just a couple of miles from there and travelled that road a lot; don't remember the hole though )0 -
You wouldn't, as you're usually riding uphill over it. Instantly forgettable.
Very easy to slip off the bars if you have a loose grip and not expecting a sudden jolt. She was 2nd wheel, so wouldn't have seen it coming.
I can't be bothered with group riding around here anymore, it's just a constant cacophony of people shouting "HOLE!".0
