Interview clothing

All well and good but if you wanted to become a lawyer, accountant or banker in a major city then you wouldn't get very far.
Also, throwing clothes in the bin demonstrates quite an immature attitude.0 -

True, but I've never wanted to be any of those things. I have worked in an office, though and got that job dressed casually for the interview.
No, it demonstrates that I knew I'd never be needing it again.0 -
Why not donate it to a charity shop?0

its not just down to earnings though is it - MF and I and I know lots of people who earn eye watering amounts of money but trust me, when it all goes wrong you'd much rather be a pleb in an office earning half the wage.
generally though i and I would say suits have a self inflated sense of importance of themselves: I and I remember turning up at bambina's new school with a friend who is a senior paramedic - we were the only two people not in suits.
as the assembled suiterati looked down their noses and tried to out importance each other friend turns around, sees the look on my face and comments that when you think about it we're too important to wear a suit.Postby team47b » Sun Jun 28, 2015 11:53 am

This is true.
However, remember it's not always the brightest people at the top.Postby team47b » Sun Jun 28, 2015 11:53 am

Q: What would you wear for an online interview? Would you make any effort or just what you wear normally at home?0
-
A crisp white suit-esque shirt as a minimum. Maybe a tie - have a look what the interviewers are wearing in their LinkedIn/company website profiles.
If in doubt stick a tie on.
Make sure your background is tidy.0 -
Whenever meeting any client or supplier, I wear a suit with shirt and tie.
I would certainly do the same for an interview - online or otherwise. I believe this demonstrates that I have respect for them and their organisation and am sure it is easier for them to imagine me "dressed down" should that be required or expected in the future than to imagine me "dressed up" should that be their expectation as that expectation is already met. I honestly don't think you can go wrong wearing a suit and tie in these circumstances however "old skool" this may be considered by some.
Good luck with the interview!Wilier Izoard XP0 -
Shirt, tie, pyjama bottoms / boxers and slippers.0
-
I wouldn't wear a tie for a VC at home.
General rule is you need to fit in with your surroundings and tie at home looks to weird.0 -
I would say that the "general rule" would be to fit in with the "situation" rather than the surroundings . . . but I am quite old . . .Wilier Izoard XP0
