Have to say this chap did get set on from the get go. I would be a little bit pissed off if I was him as well.

It does seem to be a noticeable trend on here. I would go so far to say it isn't far shy of bullying to be honest.

It is a valid point. Would you all do the same thing, and say the same things to his face if say you met him for the first time at a ride with a cycling club and you did not know him? I very much doubt it.
In person it very well might have started off the same way but I doubt he'd have responded in the same way with the "Well I've been successful and you haven't" line. More likely it would have rapidly become light hearted. For sure there's been a lot of ribbing going on which wouldn't take place in person. But then it's just not personal here is it?

So if it isn't personal, then it is ok to respond and behave like that?
There are lots of things to get worked up about in the world, Twist83. This isn't one of them.

No, just wondering what was wrong in the bottom bracket that wouldn't make a noise or be obvious the rest of the time. For my own education.

For the avoidance of any doubt, I am not trying to be snide.

I'm willing to bet we will never learn the nature of the 'fix'. Just like we never got to hear more about the 'great stickers', or what Merlin said to Bungle....

The whole middle aged dentist/Sky thing does seem to wind people up when you mention Pinarello and the title probably set you up for a fall.

I'm betting on middle aged lawyer. A dentist might ride both high-end bikes after being talked into buying them both by the Evans sales staff, but only a lawyer would come on here and subtly brag about it. Or describe such a dull question as "fascinating".

Besides, it's not about the bike. There are so many variables that affect performance - even down to wind speed and direction, when and what you last ate and where your mind is at - that is pretty well impossible for anyone to sensibly answer this "fascinating" conundrum.

And I'm betting you're a fat, insecure loser with a small dick, and maybe a commuter bike at best, who comes to the forum to make yourself feel better about your miserable life, small dick, and inability to come to terms with the fact that other people are more successful than you are. Only that kind of a person would take their time to put down another person by virtue of their means. You know s--it about me, son.

At the end of the day, my only concern related to this is whether I'm going to ride my Dogma or my Tarmac on a particular day, while you're still going to wake up a fat, insecure loser with a small dick, looking for ways to make yourself feel better about your miserable existence and your innate inability to measure up to people who have accomplished more than you ever can.

I don't give a rat's ass what some insecure douchebag living in the UK (what the f-ck is Evans?) in some craphole with its sh!tty weather thinks or writes about me. But what does upset me is that a dedicated forum like this one -- a forum dedicated to avid cyclists and cycling community in general -- should be an antidote to the cancer that is insecure people like you (and this goes to all the others in this thread who made themselves feel better about putting me down for dare I have two expensive bikes) with a keyboard and access to the internet who spend their sad, miserable existence disparaging others. There are other dedicated forums, such as Audiogon, where derogatory comments about someone triggered by just what they own or can afford are not tolerated by the community. This here is not a community; it's mostly a bunch of judgmental f-cks who offer no advice, but find satisfaction in putting down others.

And yes, it is about the bike, you s-it for brains, in this case. A small fix in the bottom bracket fixed the issue. Don't give any more advice.

If it's not been asked before, could you please enlighten us as to the size of your d1ck. I'm assuming you must think it enormous. How long have you had this fascination with the size of members'... er.. members?

Thank you. You hit the nail on the head. I'm the first guy to stop and ask if a fellow cyclist needs help on the side of the road, and always treat people I meet with respect unless he or she disrespects me, like has happened here now and before.

The amount of vitriol my good faith question has spurred here is beyond sad. And the digging up my old posts from a few years ago is even more tragic. Because I defended myself. And what is the forum for if not for asking questions, even if silly? I'm wondering how I could have asked my original question without sounding like I'm bragging, and at the same time provided enough information without getting sneered at for not providing enough information to get an informed answer. Sounds like an impossible task given the nature of this forum.

Those who want feedback on the actual issue in my OP can contact me directly. I believe there is an option to PM on here. I've wasted enough of my time on this.

I don't see any vitriol - all I see is just good ol fashioned ribbing/pi55-taking/banter at your expense. It's a shame you responded to it in the way that you did. Others might have just taken it in good humour and given similar in return. In my opinion, the way you responded (ie badly, with actual, real insults) indicates that you are the one with the issue here...

'Murican though innit. What we see as ribbing/pi55-taking and banter just registers as abuse.
