I expect the next duffer will tell me to paint the shed too.

The shed looks brand new. If it isn't already treated, you will want to treat that shed.

All keen cyclists should have an overgrown garden.

Nah. Cyclist or not everyone likes a trim bush.
    .
The camera down the willy isn't anything like as bad as it sounds.

A pulse is the only pre-requisite on my list.

That applies to most of the Bottom Bracket, as the picture of Mrs 666's leg proved.

Well, my threaded headset arrived today and it appears to be a much better product than the treadless version. Progress isn't always improvement. 😉
Oh! And no warnings about the possibility of death! 🤣🤣🤣
The above may be fact, or fiction, I may be serious, I may be jesting.
I am not sure. You have no chance.

You can solve mismatched cages by removing one of them.

Or I can just be happy.
but will it be real happiness?

There are two key disadvantages. Overall the setup won't be as stiff and even though you will never know, that's bad. Secondly it will be heavier and even though you will never notice, that's bad. Thirdly, you will be able to adjust the height of the bars, and that's bad. Damn I'll come in again.

You are assuming that I am using it as a threaded headset.
    Your assumption is wrong. 😉

You aren't going to put a stump in there and attach a threadless stem are you?

As if the bottle cages aren't bad enough.

Not quite. Simply replace the top nut with the top cap from a treadless setup.
Easy. The forks are threadless and all the other parts are interchangeable.

Your reference to cages is for another person. 😉

    Never knew that was possible.

Not in 1” silver you won’t. No longer produced. Such is life maintaining older equipment.

Which is exactly what I did.

I did snap the quick link* and it damaged an adjacent link, so it got shortened by 2 links.

Is anyone going to give me silly money for the C40 'cos I got this deep need for a Cento Uno...?

And the shed is treated with Water seal. Pop it into a weed killer sprayer and job done in 10 mins max.
