    If Trentin wins the stage, Froome needs to come 12th or better to win the jersey - which isn't inconceivable in a race with no sprinters.

    Well he's the man in possession of the jersey. I don't see why he shouldn't defend it. (Remember Trentin still has win the stage to win it)

    means less if the opposition lets you win . if trentin wants it he should expect to earn it .

    Well....QS boys seem to be quite pissed off...
    Agreed that its a competition and nice of froome to honour that. I think it's commendable. But it might not be super intelligent. Mixing in with the sprinters can be bad..

    I'm surprised SKY are mixing it with QS. I actually wondered if they'd ensured Froome was 3rd yesterday so they didn't spoil it for QS.

    Froome is a professional sportsman at the very top of his game. Of course he wants it, he wouldn't be where is is now if he didn't want to win everything he possibly could.

    Split in the peloton after 24th position (costing seven seconds). Contador was 26th, Kelderman 16th.
