You' have to be in it to win it - it being the lantern rouge. I'm in the lead (missing a pick leads to elimination).

I am. I foolishly picked Golly Martini for the overall. The b4stard is in 20th position.

It's a little like wrestling a gorilla. You don't quit when you're tired. You quit when the gorilla is tired.
  • Didn't Chavanel have a run in with Jean Christophe Peraud after JCP beat him at French TT championship?

Mother in law would not be impressed - doesn't like beards.

I reckon it's hard to find someone who doesn't like Mollema.

In that case can I also raise Simon Geshke. He's my new second favourite workhorse after Bernie.

Big Bernie Eisel's got to be the nicest guy in the peloton surely?
'Performance analysis and Froome not being clean was a media driven story. I haven’t heard one guy in the peloton say a negative thing about Froome, and I haven’t heard a single person in the peloton suggest Froome isn’t clean.' TSP

It's struck me with all the throwbacks to 1987 that Roche is very much not universally liked.

In fact, I'd go so far as to call him a bit of a d*ck. Always has an excuse as to why his acts of sh*thousery weren't his fault

Nico? His son? I don't know of any problem there. Apparently he doesn't get on with Dan Martin's dad though.

I've not heard that, Neil used to come to our club's annual dinner every year with Dan's mum Maria and managed to get Roche to be our guest speaker one year (he did a club run with us too).

There's some relatives of a couple of Norfolk burglars who don't like him.

Ah, maybe that's what I was thinking of. Either that or Nico Rosberg

Rowe coming across really well on ITV4 and always seems popular / well respected by other riders. I think he's well thought of by Belgian pundits and fans too.

    Danish pundits love him.

Bernie has had a tough year. Glad he seems to be doing okay now.

I'd heard something along the lines that Stephen Roche didn't like Dan Martin.

I was at the Giro Big Start in Belfast in 2014. At the teams presentation I was standing near the VIP area and could see Stephen Roche. He spent most of the presentation using his phone and paying no attention. When Nico was interviewed he recorded it on his phone and listened intently. Then he went back to ignoring it and using his phone, until Dan Martin was interviewed, at which point he listened again and recorded the interview on his phone. Not all that insightful, but he looked like a proud father and uncle.

I'm sure I've read and/or heard interviews where people said that despite all his drug and other issues people Vino was extremely liked simply because he was such a nice person. Something along that lines that he was such a decent and friendly guy it was really difficult to dislike him despite the fact he probably spent half of his career attached to a blood bag.

Actually, I get the impression that there is a similar situation with Valverde within the peloton.

I'd expect Kwiatkowski and Van Avermaet to be universally liked as well.
