The Tour website reporting a different top ten to what you guys are saying - doesn't have Aru and puts Sagan in 10th

To be fair I couldn't see Aru in the replays.

Not sure that sprint would have suited Cavendish even if fully fit. He found Kittel's wheel though.

Dylan on Sagan's wheel till Bouhanni shoves him off. Then gets boxed in. Never really sprints.

Longwy won't be that exciting as they'll already have gone through Wiltz.

First TdF stage ever that disc brakes are allowed (TT exempted) and the first stage taken by a bike with discs. Whilst I'm not saying they gave Kittel an advantage (might have helped him avoid the wet pile-up but who knows - I'm not claiming that), they certainly didn't appear to give him a disadvantage in that awesome finish.

Anyway Cav just said that he had to unclip at about 500 to go and he didn't feel he had the power in his legs but he was very happy with getting 4th. Bless his little socks.

Is it an uphill finish tomorrow? Hoping so as I'd like Geraint to hold yellow for a while longer. An uphill finish could help him gain a fair few seconds over the sprinters.

I couldn't hear him but he seemed uncharacteristically chilled. He's usually either hyper after winning or angry at not winning. Seems to just be happy to have made it to the start and be competitive.

The stage starts in Gilbert's birthplace, could he get the stage win?

He was super chill. I've never seen him like that. Seems to be happy to just to a) be at the Tour and b) up there with only 6 weeks training. Was as usual full of praise for his team. Said Renshaw had set him up well at 1k to go but he didn't feel confident so dropped back to surf some wheels. I think it's clear he's taken some heart from his performance. He may yet win a stage. I hope so.

Thankfully everybody got home safely except for 100 grams of Froome's bottom.

Just think of the weight saving in the mountains. Or does he need that bottom part for power ?

Nice to see Phinney get on the podium after his long way back.
  • Not a major Phinney fan, personally, but that's a hell of a story. Good for him.

Think a Katusha rider slid and took out everyone.

    Sky rider was first down.

    No he wasn't.
    They all have yellow helmets.
Ag2r rider on the inside, took the lot out.

Think it was Katusha - they look almost identical to AG2R, but Katusha were riding at the front just before the crash. No idea who it was though. Definitely not Sky though.

BBC, reviewing the footage, said Katusha - definitely a red jersey.

Whilst researching the Lanterne Rouge standings Reto Hollenstein was fingered as the guy who caused everything by Wales Online. Not sure how good their info is, but seems as good a guess as any - Hollenstein rolled in about 15 minutes down.

Hello, my name is Reto Hollenstein, you may know me from such movies as The Munsters.

Luke Rowe a possible casualty for Sky. He and Leezer last home. Off for a wrist scan.
Potentially more bad news for Quintana.
Amador came home 10 minutes down in a small group of Katusha crash victims, one of whom was Tony Martin.
