As an ex-rower myself all I can say that is that he seemed to have plenty left in the tank after his effort. I remember nearly falling off the erg at the end of my 2k tests and nearly being sick.

His score was impressive for a good club/university rower but nowhere near good enough for the GB squad. If he can get his score around six minutes then he has the physical potential, but I don't think he'll ever master the technical side in just three years, but hope I'm wrong.

Btw, don't understand why he wants to put weight on around his gut - there's no benefit from that just like there isn't in cycling.

I suppose this might tie in with his claim that he thought it was a false start and didn't have a fast start.

Apparently Wiggins fell away over the last 750m. Inexperience or an empty tank.

Well when you are trying to gain muscle mass rapidly, you place your body into an anabolic state through calorie excess to build that muscle. Gaining fat is part of that process.
Just as you lose a certain amount of muscle mass when calorie restricting to lose fat rapidly (with your body being in a catabolic state).

Shouldn't people be up in arms at him wearing a championship jersey that he hasn't won himself

(Or is it allowed if you've won loads of WCs in other events?)
