I'm not sure ... but it's worth seeing if it creates good racing.

    This sounds properly sh!t.

It's basically become a glorified post Giro crit, especially with Dumolin riding.

Even the website makes it look like one.

They don't even name the climb. "Climb one".

All a bit 'budweiser multiball', isn't it?

    It's live now.
Looks just like any other bike race to me: Quick Step on the front, Cannondale on the back.

5 minutes in and riders have already sat up and not trying.

They seem to have got Tim Westwood doing to commentary in the background of the Eurosport feed. Irritating doesn't get close.

    So, is it any good?

It's a hilly crit, blew apart before the flag even fell and now massively strung out. Front group has 20 riders or so of all teams so no controlling whatsoever. Tao GH going well. There's also some intermediate hill sprints I don't understand. I also don't understand how the overall is calculated, so does winning matter or is it every riders standing? Its ok without being edge of seat, will see how it pans out.

Yes, it is. Better than most days of racing so far.

5 man break with Dumoulin and Tao.

Rick, still winding up the commuters on embankment? I might be back from SF later this summer, will try and come along to a KW run if you're still doing them?

Judging by your mileage in SF it'll be even more embarrassing than normal for me, so I look forward to that.

And there are only 7 riders in it.

Beefy Betancur seems to have found a race he likes.
His appetite for points is insatiable. :P

Vini Fantini lone suicide break, this has everything. It's completely confusing, UKCyclingExpert on Twitter has it right:
At the @HammerSeries it appears the US Movie Star team are 26 for three after four frames of cycling.

Teo still in 7th, which shows how few riders are competing.

    Pt 2 - https://www.facebook.com/hammerseries/v ... 7209896626

    Sep v Stuyven already

I'm coming round to this idea! I think the races are too long though at 2 or so hrs. Needs to be more like a CX or XCO race at 1 - 1.5hrs

I think you need 2 hours to make it hard enough, otherwise everyone can hold it together for 1 hour.

8 simulateneous TTTs sounds crazy tomorrow. Does it end up like a huge colour blocked lead out train style peloton, but on TT bikes?!

I think this is dreadful. Maybe it can be refined but I just don't understand what they're trying to do.

I get the idea that they are trying to reinvent road races (well more accurately criterium racing) in the same way that Revolution reinvented/repackaged track cycling.
