Finally got round to weigh it.... 8.4 kg, which is 800 grams lighter than the disc bike I had previously with the same groupset. Interestingly the two framesets have the same weight, so the difference is in the wheels + disc brake system... given the wheels only differ by 100 grams, 700 grams is the difference between a rim braked and a disc braked bike, give or take.

Here with its 11 kg folding sister

Ugo a mate of mine is after one of these. I assume you still recommend the frame?
  • In terms of quality of the product yes, then it depends what your mate is looking for. There are cheaper winter bikes that take mudguards and there are faster summer bikes that don't but will still take big enough tyres.
This is a 4 seasons bike, with its advantages and its drawbacks.
I would recommend it for that use or as a light Audax bike, but I would look at the cheaper Dolan Preffisio as a winter bike.

Worth bearing in mind that whilst it will take 28 mm tyres (any) without guards, you are limited to 25 (and not all 25 will fit) with guards on. The flip side of the coin is that you can use short drop brake calipers (5800 fit just fine)

  • Roswheel I think...

It's alright for the money... wrks best if your top tube is flattish rather than round

  • Just ordered a Dual frame in Black/white to be built with 105 5800, Askium wheel set, ISM attack saddle, SKS Bluemels and some Deda Bars and stem. I had been looking for some info on the frame and found this thread very informative. Going to use it for winter training and the dirty summer days, also going have a go at an Audax or two.

    Thanks.

  • I have been a big fan of Dolan bikes and despite being drawn to a Cervelo for fast summer duties my Dual puts in the most miles per year. In full winter mode, mudguards and askiums it brushes the winter grind away. Start heading into better weather and the flaps are off and cosmics on, turns it into a great 200km+ machine. If I wasn’t so vein I would probably use it all year. It’s a shame it doesn’t have internal routing otherwise adding Di2 would make it just about perfect (applies tin hat)....

This bike will never look good in photos, but it's a very good steed for long rides
