    2. It has no auto start feature. My guess is that they left this out because it automatically uploads your ride. If it had an auto start feature then it would effectively be a tracking device. No auto start is very annoying. Add an auto start setting and an setting to prompt for upload.

Certainly does have an auto start feature. My weekend ride this week I had no course plotted and as soon as I started rolling, the auto start message appeared on screen.

I have the bolt. In general it seems good. One thing that is a pain is it will never complete a spindown on the kickr. Well it did at first for a couple of times but now it always fails. Anyone else have this issue?

Among other things I do like how you can reduce the amount of data on a page by using the side buttons. If it haf better mapping (and spindown issue solved) it would be perfect.

    1. The cadence sensor is all over the show. In a minute of riding over a flat course at a perceived constant cadence, the reading displays, 81, 57, 75, 62, 41, 85, 67, 49.... I still have a Garmin cadence sensor. I am going to fit that and see what the difference is

have to agree with the above.Fitted mine to the bike on the turbo with the same sort of readings above

had no issues with a garmin cadence sensor, then a wahoo sensor and now a quarq pm sensor with mine. sensor battery?

Quick question for the Elemnt/Bolt users....

Can you hold multiple routes on the device like you can with a Garmin or can you only sync one at a time? Online instructions are basic at best.

You can have multiple on the device at any time.

Another confirmation here of multiple routes being fine.

Think I've got 85 routes currently on mine. You can sort by proximity (i.e. how near you are to the start of a route), or date you created, you can can "pin" your favourite routes in ridewithgps or star them in strava, and then sort them on the bolt by pinned/starred routes too

How good is the Bolt's off road navigation?

Not used it properly off road in the middle of nowhere, but have been down a few bridleways and footpaths which have been shown on the map and worked fine with the routing.

    Love the bolt.

Do not love the phone app.
    - The 'Take me anywhere' feature rarely works (and if it does, it trys to take me down bridleways) and the software itself just eats phone battery. According to the diagnostics, it requires as much battery power as the Android software to run the damn phone!!

    Works fine with an iPhone.

    Hi there,

I've just got an Element Bolt and have been impressed with the easy set up. Just did my first ride and it synced nicely with Strava etc.

The one thing I can't find is a battery level indicator. Does anyone know how you tell how much battery is left?

    Thanks,

    Andy

click the power button, the battery % is displayed at the top of the screen. Note - If you have it paired to your phone and notifications on, it will also send you messages time to time with the % left or a reminder to charge.

You can also set battery level as one of your fields.

Brilliant - thanks for the replies.

I didn't realise you could set up the custom screens so easily. I now have one with Wahoo battery, phone battery and outside air temp :-)

    Cheers,

Yep. I have the same. Along with the clock time. Sort of screen that you might be interested in every now and then but hidden away behind the useful stuff.

my wahoo experiment has ended. simply I think it takes to much time to get it working right and faff is something I dont like much. I want to turn it on and use it well I could do that but then how to get the files off. that was the tricky bit.

So I think wahoo need to work on compatibility with phones to ensure there are less issue with pairing and they need to make it possible for a PC to see the file directly properly as the last couple of times I plugged it in the wahoo was not seen a a drive but the other drives are in the same port

Probably the reason I like it never seen a cable unless charging, routes come from RWG, and auto syncs to RWG and strava oh and the wahoo app but then that's enough analysis for me not everyone.

Wahoo clearly state in their info that it isn't compatible with your phone, so the fault is yours for buying it surely?

    "Compatible Devices:
Most Android devices running Android 4.4 or newer and with Bluetooth 4.0 will work. However, Wahoo Fitness has not tested complete compatibility with all devices. Please download the Companion App from the Google Play Store to ensure that it installs on your device before purchasing a product.
*Huawei phones are not compatible with the Companion App and will not be able to connect to the ELEMNT."

As for setting it up, it couldn't be simpler if you have a phone that is compatible with it. Scan the QR image with the phone and voila the device is paired. Adding sensors has never failed for me unlike with Garmin when it could be several attempts to get them to pair. Why would you need to get files off? It automatically uploads to Strava or whatever program you choose as soon as it is in Wifi range.

What I do is email the file to myself from within the companion app

Has anyone had any problems with the sync between their Elemnt Bolt and their Android phone?
They pair up properly and rides sync as they should but the function where it should show messages and calls on the Bolt doesn't work.
It also didn't work for me on my previous Garmin 820 so most probably something I'm doing wrong with the phone.
I'm udingva Samsung Galaxy S7 phone with it if that makes any difference.

Yeah, mine took alot of buggering about to sync my ride today. I think there is an updated app out.

The unit itself is just great. Tested it on a 400k Audax yesterday/today and it never missed a beat. Brilliant.

Is there a way of changing the settings for the "take me to" routing? Out on a club run yesterday and had to get back early so went off the front. Synced the route from phone to bolt instantly but then It tried to send me down bridleways and footpaths! Ended up pretty much having to cycle down a rather quick A road.

I couldn't find any settings but maybe I've missed something. I've contacted Wahoo and await their response!
