Rourke or others ?

Haha
Yes something along those lines would be ace. I`ll wait to get on top off my brand new arthritis in both hips first, then attack a super long Randonnee.
Actually fancy LEL but PBP would be a bit special.
It is a proper randonneur though isn`t it ?Trek,,,, too cool for school ,, apparently0 -

It is indeed... I might see you in the AUK circuit then...
If you live in central England, the "heart of England" 300 could be a nice and gentle baptism to long distance and good warm up for the Fred

Central Scotland mate.:) will suffice by warming up for the Fred on the local wind blasted hills .Trek,,,, too cool for school ,, apparently0

That is a nice bike you have built there, can I ask how does the rear mudguard attach at the front end, chain stay bridge or back of the seat tube?0
-
Back of the seat tube using a rubber band thingy.
The Brake bridge bracket can move along the guard so it can be rotated to fit.Trek,,,, too cool for school ,, apparently0 -
Like that, very very much.Saracen Tenet 3 - 2015 - Dead - Replaced with a Hack Frame
Voodoo Bizango - 2014 - Dead - Hit by a car
Vitus Sentier VRS - 20170 -
Looks well B'n'G.
I guess I wasn't expecting the Randonneur theme, and thought it was going to a bit lighter.
Health to enjoy - I wish you well with it.
I like the colour and the chromed bars/stem/seatpost - very nice!!
A couple of thoughts / questions...
Are the brakes long reach or are they standard 105 callipers?
Is there a goal to remove the spacers between frame and stem?
Good luck with it - certainly looks like a long distance machine alright!!
Cheers

Frame is lovely but that fugly chainset really spoils the look for me. Would look much nicer with an Athena or similar?FFS! Harden up and grow a pair0

It's not all about appearance, I think Shimano is a very good choice, an Audax machine is about practicality... With Shimano HT2 you know where you stand and every shop in the country can do jobs like replacing a BB... in fact I am pretty sure at events like LEL or PBP you can get it sorted at many control points.
Same applies to light touring around the world.left the forum March 20230 -
Campag was a non starter cause I don`t like it. Simple.
Brakes are standard reach and the stem was factored in with 20mm below it when the geometry was being worked out to allow adjustment in the future either up or down.Trek,,,, too cool for school ,, apparently0 -

I don`t think I was expecting that direction either when I first went to Rourke, it just kinda evolved that way one I saw the 953 bikes and decided against it.Trek,,,, too cool for school ,, apparently0 -
First ride today, a gentle 30k.
How smooth is that ? very smooth, and a surprising ride. Fast even with all the winter junk fitted.
105 11 speed is superb. Silent freehub, which I love.
Very pleased.Trek,,,, too cool for school ,, apparently0 -
What are your thoughts in the tyres? Mine are super grippy and sound like they are sticking to the road. Almost feel like they are slowing me down!0
-
Initial impression was that they are quick.
Was greasy but never felt they were anything other than really grippy, not noisy though.
They seem to roll very well, as I said, they felt like they will be quick.Trek,,,, too cool for school ,, apparently0 -
Welcome to the Rourke owners club BnG, the bike is looking awesome! Reminds me of when I took delivery of mine (although I had to build up from the frameset).
Are you in the ballot for the Fred, or have you secured a place already? Good luck if it's the former - I have applied again, so if successful will keep a keen eye out for you.0 -
In the Ballot.
This arrived as a frameset as well and has just been built.Trek,,,, too cool for school ,, apparently0 -

Ah right - I saw the first pic with it leant against a bike shop desk and assumed they had built it up.0 -
What has happened to the Rourke website - it's had a revamp and there's less info on it than before....not good!!0
-
Lovely frame, spoilt by that flat grey Shimano stuff which is absolutely gopping. Can't believe they let it go into production TBH, compared to the old 6600/7800 10 speed stuff it's atrocious. THe new Campag isn't much better, although at least it's actually shiny....0

So, are you in?
A big fat sod off for me, goddamn it. Bah! Equal parts annoyance and relief! I've done it twice, so that might be my lot.0 -
Nope.
Got the email sorry but no joy. Bit disappointed, but hey ho.Trek,,,, too cool for school ,, apparently0 -
