    Real brakes should be hydraulic.

Quick question for experienced fettlers. When fitting new brake cables should I fit new outer casing, or is the old ok? Any tips for internal rear brake cable change?

Preferably new outers matched in length to old ones, but if good condition spray them through with GT 85 or similar (GT is good as it has teflon that sticks whereas WD will just drive everything out and dry them out)

Internal rear: leave outer in place, slide out inner. Slide new inner in, then slide out old outer and replace outer by sliding over inner that is in place.

Alternatively, if you have the little covers like I do on my Cervelo then pop them out and it's simple to thread innerthroygh frame then grab hold of them with a dental pick or similar.

Otherwise, tie a piece of cotton onto the end of the cable, thread it through and use the Hoover to suck out the thread. Then carefully pull the cable through. Bizarrely this does work but it can be frustrating - it'll either go first time or take ages.

It's a funny thing shirking. I consider myself quite lazy, but the people around here who are total and utter lazy phucktards of the highest order and are not worth employing keep saying how hard they work.

Same, yes I have acquired pro shirking skills today but there are some who make me look like a rank amateur. In my defence last week I raised an resolved more faults in one day than half the people on the team did in a week.

WTF? Sungod summed it all up keeping it short and simple (just like you) and then you go gushing to MF.

How long until Seano is on here moaning about how he can't ride his bike because it has no brake cables? Anyway, MF didn't write that cable fitting guide. There was no mention of lobbing the old cables into next door's garden.

Because everyone knows that the is no point hittingcables with a hammer before throwing into doors garden as it won't make any difference

I suggest cutting them into small segments spreading them around next doors house next time you get invited round to put your cars keys in a bowl, if you know what I mean......

Very true. How frustrated will he have to get before he hits the frame repeatedly with a hammer and throws the whole shebang into next door's garden?

Or take seat post out, fill with petrol, replace seat post, set fire to it, lob it over the fence and watch it explode.

    That would rock.

Then obviously pop over with a hammer and smash any remnants into a million smithereens.

Well spotted. I think Seano just likes the attention. I reckon the bike has been in the shed rusting away since before the wife swap.

Thanks for having my back V68. I'm a little worried about Pinno, first the Greg Rusedski debacle and now the sungod error. Deffo lost a few more sandwiches from his picnic.

And I was moaning about having no brakes two weeks ago but nobody noticed :( It's getting a little dangerous.

My current wife was looking over my shoulder and happened to see your "wife swap" comment. Not amused. And on International women's day too. Shame on you.
