    Freddy Maertens. You da man.

I don't kow what Reddy had to do with it though:

    "Alcohol[edit]
Maertens drank champagne during races. And he was for a while salesman for Lanson, a champagne company. Journalists saw crates of champagne at his house and interpreted them as confirmation that he had a drinking problem.

Legend says that on the Friday before the world championship at Goodwood, England, he asked his taxi driver to join him for a pint of beer, "because he sweating so much." Lomme Driessens said: "Too much wine and not enough riding, that's his problem."

Maertens told a reporter, Guy Roger, that the stories were exaggerated. But he acknowledged later that he did have a problem. He attended meetings of Alcoholics Anonymous until word spread that he was there. Now he drinks only non-alcoholic drinks. His body, he said, reacted quickly to alcohol and he could get drunk on a single glass of beer."

Nope. It's not an 'Erik' either. :D

    Reminds me of a joke.

A white horse wanders into a bar. The bar man says "What can I do for you?" The horse replies "Can I have a drink please?". Barman replies "Certainly sir, and we've never had a White Horse order a drink and so the first one is on the house". "Why, thank" you say's the horse. "Here you go" says the barman "...it's even named after you". The horse says "What? Eric?!".

    I'll get my coat.

It is. The connection to Wroclaw was a semi-decoy. San Sebastián, along with Wrocław, Poland, was the European Capital of Culture in 2016

No. We're talking early 90's here.

Is 11 to do with that proposed track event series (Revolution?) which was going to be held in a Dutch venue than wasn't?

No. The clue is in the question. The key word is 'Perrier'. The UCI and it's 'World tour' has taken control of a calender with strict categorisation. Before that, the season was an eclectic mix of races. If I say anymore, i'll give it away.

No, The event took place on 3 occasions and was going to be replaced with a similar event but it was dropped.

    If not that, then

    20 E Erik Zabel

Zabel was offered up before. Yes, it's O for Olaf Ludwig. For the nerds, the Classics were combined as a stand alone series which could be won as overall winner and the winner was crowned World Cup series champion'. Pernod were previous sponsors when it was called the Super Prestige Pernod International before Perrier took over in 1989 under the re-named title.

That's me learned something right there. Thought it was sponsored by pernod for it's whole duration and I say that as someone who followed cycling like a nutter at that time.

That is correct. Why is it that the Pro Race lot never seem to entertain my Christmas quiz?
