My geologist ski seasoning mate has gone hiking in Nepal for a month pre ski season, what are you still doing here eh?

Is this going to be on the telly? I've been really enjoying the London 6 day and track world Champs coverage on the turbo (although the sprints do mess with my power targets...).

The Madison in particular - big favourite.

Final day on Eurosport, next sunday.

AtC, Peril, Road Painter and I could try to convey it via the medium of interpretive dance, if you like?

I couldn't say no to that! Intrigued. Will there be costumes? Not sure what it'll do to my turbo power targets though?!?

Is Iljo Keiise's dad's bar worth a pilgrimage? Given that I like Belgian beer a lot.
And, if so, where is it????

Yeah, you have to have a beer or two in De Karper. Dad and Sis both work behind the bar. It's just down the road from the Citadelpark and the Kuipke

I'm a bit worried about AtC, she's prime wheelie bin fodder ;)

    Should I be worried

Put it like this, given your modest height you could be put into one by...er...persons unnamed, and have problems climbing out

    That is some line-up.

At a sportive in the summer I had a chat with Maurice Burton from that list, who later rode with Wiggins Senior. Very interesting chap, and runs De Ver cycles in Streatham.

Wiggins breaks his media silence and speaks to the media. Cav and wiggo also won first madison. Any one got a live stream for this 6 day?

  • I'm looking forward to this, will be my first time in Gent- any tips from seasoned pros?
Last year was my first time. Gent is a beautiful city but difficult to fully appreciate that with a 6day style hangover.
I turned up on the Saturday just before the pros were introduced, don't know if much happened before then

Best tips I can give are get in the middle & get drinking, don't plan much for the morning afterwards! You get dizzy if you try watching them go round the track.

Sounds exacting like what I'm hoping for. I'll put the sight seeing off to Sunday...Monday...next time!

    +1

My first year was this year – only managed tickets for last night (Wed) and it was brilliant. Very rough today. Gent is beautiful and the people are welcoming and so friendly.

Tip from me: take cash. Drinks and food are bought with tokens and there are no cash points in the Velodrome.

If you want pre or post event beers, a visit to De Karper is a must. It's a 5 min walk from Citadelpark and is owned and run by Iljo Kaisse's dad. Full of memorabilia and super beers. Very warm. Enjoy!

Gutted no live coverage. The jersey cav and wiggo are riding in look really smart. Good read

Please can someone explain how you win. You get points per race, but then somehow or other you can also get a lap ahead?

It is effectively a 6 day madison. You can gain points in all the other (often little more that show) events but laps are what REALLY counts.

Cav and Wiggins win by gaining a lap right at the end. Quite entertaining.
