Lindos. I remember it well. Charming place despite it being busy.
We went to Rhodes a dozen years ago arriving late at night. Only to find that half the island was on fire, quite spectacular from the air.
Everyday when the wind changed direction the sky would rain black ash. Didn't do much to the water quality of the swimming pool either.

I finally gave in and bought a proper macro lens. Canon 100mm f/2.8 USM.

Lots to learn and looking forward to it. Anyone else into bugs?

That's a good shot. Tricky business photographing animals, children and... bugs.

Depressing thought, there were probably more people watching than there are Sumatran tigers left on earth.

Avro Vulcan Bomber a few years ago on National Forces day at Scarborough,i missed it the year before there was no way i was going to miss it the second time, what a piece of engineering,I can remember as a young kid seeing them fly down the coast in the early eighties, not realizing they were training during the days of the cold war

I have a Nikon D90,i bought it off a mate that is a graphic designer but his main interest is photography,he used the D90 as a back up to a D300 I think, but he bought another body that cost probably more than my mountain and road bikes put together,so now uses the D300 as back up,i have two lenses for it 18-140 and a 70-300 used the later for these photo's,would like a 500mm at some point but I cannot justify £450-500 for something I'm not going to used a lot

She came in over some trees quite low with the engines running low,it was like creeping death seeing the size of her and so quiet, but when the pilot used the engines she was loud, such an impressive machine though, shame we will never see her fly again

I first saw the Vulcan fly back in the late 50's at the Farnborough air show. It was a hot day and we were near the end of the runway, all I could see at first was this huge heat haze with a large shape within it, then gradually it took shape as it thundered down the runway, even then as a lad I thought how gracefull it was in the air.
Now where's that "Get Out of Crash Free Card"

We visited a lavender farm... out of my comfort zone, subject- and style wise and I think it shows. Not bad though and they're nice memories, which counts for a lot.

Second one is better IMO as it is less generic.
Also, the first one needs a gradient filter, or post processing, to bring out the lavender.
The above may be fact, or fiction, I may be serious, I may be jesting.
I am not sure. You have no chance.

Funnily enough, I've tweaked levels to bring out the lavender as much as I dared without throwing the rest of the image. It's the end of the season for lavender, so the purples and magentas are not as vibrant as maybe a few weeks ago.

Agreed the second one is better.

I did some playing around with levels, to a greater extent, on the other photos in the album... more as an experiment. I prefer to shoot in B&W and leave the images exactly as they are.

    Assumption help.
Try shooting RAW if you will be post processing for more latitude.
It is possible to adjust areas of a shot while retaining others, software dependent. Or filters.
I always shoot RAW, expose for the highlights and bring out the shadows later on the PC.

Yes, it's really lovely. And I saw a lady who'd brought along her pet parrot.

Blue, gold and green? I think I saw her down in Carshalton on Monday. There can't be that many pet parrots in the area.

Apparently most of the hillsides in that area were used for lavender growing at one point.

Red and yellow. So there are at least two parrots. :)

There are a good few Lavender farms on the outskirts of London.
