Only the first few km's are worthy of a TT bike I would think. Plus the descent at the end is a little too technical for a TT bike I think. Surprised when I saw Froome post that he was on his TT bike during the rest day. I do wonder if its a bluff just to make his competition doubt a little.

As per https://twitter.com/Doctor_Hutch, Tony Martin and Tom Dumoulin also apparently planning on using TT bikes today.

Naughty boy. Not in Newport yet, with the rest of them.

No cheese, wine or sausage for a mountain TT spoiler thread - nutritionists would approve.

Watching some of them, particularly when noticing Thomas, I was surprised his TT extensions aren't lower using an underslung design or something to have the elbows and hands lower. Looks like Joe Bloggs at a club TT on a road bike who hasn't considered getting the lowest possible design sorted out.

Saying that, he probably isn't bothered, he's not trying to place highly.

Purito just got a bike change from TT to road bike - the mechanic pushed him about 200m up the climb!

Note that Hutch tweet from after yesterdays stage where he said "Spoke to a couple of top 10 riders at the finish. They both said that everyone was just riding to defend now. Hope TT shakes it up"

Porte has a reasonable position on his road bike there. Looks like his mechanics have put satellite shifters on the extensions too unlike for many of the riders.

Looking smooth. He's been in good form this tour. I can see him taking this stage.
